The Fall Harvest update has expanded the Grow a Garden 2 pet roster by introducing eight pets of different rarities. The long list includes Fox, which is of Mythic rarity and possesses the ability to steal seeds from other players. You can make a Fox your pet after finding the wild animal on the map and purchasing it with Sheckles, the in-game currency earned by selling crops.

Ability of the Fox in Grow a Garden 2
A Fox deployed in your garden ensures that you get plant seeds without using any Sheckles. Every night, it sneaks out to steal seeds from other players and returns to your garden. The stolen seeds are added to your hotbar or inventory.
The Fox pet steals a seed from a player’s inventory. Once it steps out of your garden and reaches another player, the critter takes a few seconds to identify the seeds in the latter’s inventory. It steals a single seed after three seconds, returns to your garden, and gives you the stolen seed.
After a successful steal, the pet goes into a cooldown. If it is still nighttime, the critter begins searching for another player, repeating the same process of stealing a seed and retreating to the owner’s garden. Notably, a Fox’s stolen seed cannot be retrieved.
There are limitations to the Fox’s ability, though.
- A Fox cannot steal from players standing inside Safe Zones.
- A Fox returns empty-handed to your garden if it attempted to steal a seed from a player who has none in their inventory.
- A Fox cannot steal from a specific player multiple times. Once a player has been stolen from, they get immunity from the Fox’s ability for that night.
Even though the Fox helps you acquire free seeds, its ability is overly centered on finding players outside Safe Zones and stealing from them.
How to get the Fox pet in Grow a Garden 2
There is a 0.1% chance of a Fox spawning on the Grow a Garden 2 map. When you find this Mythic pet anywhere during a playthrough, quickly approach the wild animal and purchase it with 10,000,000 Sheckles.
If you’re lucky, you may find Big or Mega variants of a Fox. They have lower cooldowns compared to the Normal Fox, making them more efficient in stealing seeds from players during the night.
Big Foxes steal two seeds from a player and move at 1.5x speed compared to the Normal Fox. Meanwhile, the Mega Foxes steal three seeds and travel at 2x speed. The critter gets more speed once it gets the Rainbow mutation.
