Jeep’s electric off-roader is now on sale, starting at $67,000, but its driving range comes up a bit short of expectations.
Jeep Recon EV prices and range estimates revealed
After Stellantis announced a major “reset” of its electrification plan earlier this year, many were worried that the Jeep Recon would be scrapped along with it.
Despite skipping the 2026 model year for the Wagoneer S, its sole EV sold in the US, Jeep’s CEO Bob Broderdorf said the brand remained committed to launching the off-road SUV by the end of the year.
As promised, the 2026 Jeep Recon EV is now available to order, starting at $66,995. The only trim currently available is the range-topping Moab edition.
Stellantis previously said the Recon would offer an estimated range of up to 250 miles (402 km) with a 100 kWh battery pack, while the Moab would come in at around 230 miles.
The 2026 Jeep Recon EV Moab now has an official EPA-estimated range of 222 miles, coming up short of Stellantis’ forecasts.
Despite this, Jeep claims the Recon is the “first and only fully electric Trail Rated SUV” you can get your hands on.
With Jeep’s new design, including the illuminated seven-slot grille and U-shaped daytime running lights, the Recon could be mistaken for a Ford Bronco.
Built on the STLA Large platform with a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup, Jeep’s off-road SUV delivers 650 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque, which Stellantis said enables it to hit 0 to 60 mph in as little as 3.6 seconds.
At the center of it is a pair of new front and rear electric drive modules (EDMs), each delivering 250 kW.
The Moab edition gains an upgraded rear EDM with a 15:1 final drive ratio for precise torque distribution. In other words, it’s built for off-road terrain.
The Jeep Recon EV rides on a souped-up suspension with 33″ tires, providing 9.1″ of ground clearance.
It comes with Jeep’s signature Selec-Terrain management system. Drivers can choose from five drive modes: Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand, and a new Rock mode exclusive to the Moab trim.
In the spirit of its sibling off-roader, the Wrangler, Jeep said the Recon is the only pure-electric vehicle with removable doors, rear quarter glass, and swing-gate glass.
Inside, the electric SUV features over 26″ of screen space, including a 12.3″ driver cluster and a 14.5″ infotainment screen.
Regarding charging, the Recon can recharge from 5% to 80% in about 28 minutes, or 100 miles in roughly 10 minutes.
Jeep is introducing the Recon EV in the US and Canada first, but plans to launch the off-road electric SUV in the UK, Europe, and other global markets. In Canada, the 2026 Jeep Recon Moab is priced from CAD 88,285.
Electrek’s Take
Stellantis said it would introduce more affordable Jeep, Dodge, and Chrysler vehicles in the US, but I guess that won’t begin with the 2026 Recon.
Starting at $67,000 with 222 miles of range will likely be a tough sell to the loyal Jeep fans. While 222 miles is plenty of range for at least a few days’ commuting, the Recon is designed for off-roading.
With several lower-priced options, like the Rivian R2 or the upcoming R3X, the Recon will likely face an uphill battle.
Yes, it offers that true Jeep off-road capability, but with smaller, more efficient options like the Hyundai IONIQ 5 XRT and Toyota bZ Woodland, the Recon will need to find its niche.
