WWE cut ties with a bunch of stars shortly after WrestleMania 42. Three-time Women’s Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane’s name was among the fresh wave of releases that sent shockwaves across the wrestling world.

The Japanese star is currently subject to her 90-day non-compete clause, which means she’s technically still a WWE Superstar. She doesn’t have much time left, and fans have been wondering whether a potential return is on the cards for her.

Now, an update has emerged on her status, and those holding out hope for her comeback shouldn’t get their hopes up.

The news of Kairi Sane’s departure came as a surprise since she was involved in a long-running program with her mentor, Asuka. The creative quietly wrote her off the television without giving a proper send-off or payoff to her storyline with Asuka.

This ended her second run with the Stamford-based promotion, which lasted almost three years. Her exit caused a massive social media stir, with some fans bombarding WWE’s posts with the “#WeWantKairi” movement.

Last year, Nick Khan brought back R-Truth shortly after his release. This was the most recent example of Triple H listening to fans’ demands. Unfortunately, WWE did not listen to the fans this time.

Although some within the company believed there was 50% chance of her coming back when Asuka vs. IYO SKY was announced for Backlash, that didn’t happen either.

During a recent Q&A on Fightful Select, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about the possibility of Kairi Sane’s return since the WWE Supercard Mobile Game had an event card for her.

The wrestling journalist said one-half of the Kabuki Warriors isn’t expected to be back, and that she will no longer be a part of the sports entertainment juggernaut next month.

Kairi Sane is said to have returned to her home country of Japan.

There’s no word yet on whether AEW is going to be her next potential landing spot, but she has started following Tony Khan on Instagram to get the ball rolling.
