Penta is the definition of a fighting Champion, and just days after his Intercontinental title defense over Ethan Page, he defeated another up-and-coming star. Backstage, he set up a huge title defense against a current General Manager, and that challenge was accepted.
This week on RAW, Penta faced the young OG, Je’Von Evans, in a huge defense of his Intercontinental Championship. Penta winning wasn’t exactly a big surprise, but Evans lived up to his potential by putting the veteran in a tough spot and pushing him to his limit. Of course, the experience factor was a real thing, and the Champion would utilize that to take Evans out and defeat him. After the match, he tried to raise Evans’ hand in a show of respect, but a frustrated Evans didn’t want to do that and walked away. Thankfully, cooler emotions prevailed, and backstage, Evans apologized to the Champion, telling him that he was simply frustrated that he couldn’t get the job done. For his part, the Mexican star was completely understanding of the emotions that he faced.
Thanks for the submission!
After Evans went away, Rey Mysterio showed up, and they both reminisced about what it was to be his age. Penta fully understood where he came from. As a fighting Champion, he then told Rey Mysterio that he wanted to defend his title against him. Mysterio, who is the new General Manager of AAA, accepted his challenge, which will presumably take place soon.
It isn’t very often that you see an active general manager step into the ring. Fans have wanted that from Nick Aldis for a while now, but there is no sign of him making his return to the ring despite the fact that he is only in the early side of his 40s.
Either way, this is going to be an exciting one.
