Brad Pitt reportedly didn’t attend his and Angelina Jolie’s daughter’s recent graduation ceremony. Statements have reportedly come out from both sides, as Pitt’s distance from their kids continues.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie shared six kids: three biological and three adopted. The actress had adopted Zahara in 2005, before she got into a relationship with Pitt. Zahara recently graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta, but the actor didn’t attend the ceremony.
A source reportedly told TMZ:
“Zahara’s mom and siblings, who have been involved over the four very special years were present and cheering her and her Spelman sisters on.”
“Nothing prevented him from showing up for her. Or ever visiting her. The day was about all she accomplished. Not whether he was willing to attend,” the source added.
TMZ added that Pitt didn’t attend because he reportedly thought he wasn’t welcome at the ceremony. He referenced his animosity and estrangement from his kids.
Podcaster Perez Hilton has reacted to this report and the alleged arguments from both sides. He said in a video on X (formerly Twitter):
“That makes sense. I can see both sides here. I don’t think it’s a Team Angelina or Team Brad. I understand. But I hope he at least asked his daughter, Don’t presume… ‘Honey, do you want me to go to your graduation or not?’ It’s very simple. A text, right?”
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie share six kids. She gave birth to Shiloh Nouvel, Knox Leon, and Vivienne Marcheline. Meanwhile, they adopted Zahara, Pax Thien, and Maddox Chivan.
Notably, Shiloh legally dropped Pitt from her last name in August 2024. According to TMZ, Vivienne and Maddox also followed suit. Pitt and Jolie, meanwhile, split in 2016, and their divorce was confirmed in December 2024.
More from Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s high-profile 8-year divorce case

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt met in 2004, when the latter was married to Jennifer Aniston. He split with Aniston in 2005 and eventually got together with Jolie. They only got married in 2014, but announced their split in 2016. However, their divorce was confirmed in 2024 after an eight-year legal battle.
Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, told PEOPLE back then:
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family. This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.”
Jolie had accused Pitt of being abusive towards her and their six children on a flight in 2016. However, no charges were pressed against the actor.
The former couple, however, had a legal battle regarding Château Miraval, their estate and winery in France. Jolie sold her part of the estate in October 2021, leading to Pitt suing her. He accused her of making the sale without his approval.
Brad Pitt also demanded her private conversations regarding the sale in a legal case. However, according to PEOPLE, it was dismissed earlier this month.
