Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Cameron Green struck twice early to give his team a perfect start against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2026 match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday, May 20. The right-arm pacer first got rid of opener Ryan Rickelton for six runs before removing Naman Dhir, caught behind for a three-ball duck in the same over.
The dismissals came in the third over of the first innings. Green first dismissed Rickelton with a hard length ball that angled in, and Rickelton went for a pick-up shot over square leg. The left-hander was too early in his shot, and the ball went up high in the night sky, and Manish Pandey circled underneath at cover-point before diving to complete the catch.
Three balls later, the medium pacer bowled a fuller-length delivery around off, and Dhir looked confused whether to hit or leave the ball. In the meantime, the ball kissed the outside edge before wicketkeeper Angkrish Raghuvanshi completed a regulation catch. Raghuvanshi looked confident, but the on-field umpire was unmoved. While Dhir looked confident, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane took the DRS review, and the replays showed a faint edge.

Cameron Green has bowled just 18 overs (and counting) in IPL 2026, picking up seven wickets (subject to change). The 26-year-old will now look to continue his good form as the Knight Riders hope to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs. The Kolkata-based franchise purchased him for a whopping INR 25.2 crore at the auction last year.
KKR leave MI in disarray in a must-win IPL 2026 match
A clinical bowling display helped KKR dominate MI after Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to bowl in the IPL 2026. Apart from Green, Saurabh Dubey dismissed Rohit Sharma for 15 off 13 deliveries to reduce the five-time champions to 3/23.
At the time of writing, Mumbai were 34/3 after five overs, with Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav at the crease.
With 11 points in 12 games, KKR must win their last two games, including the ongoing fixture, to reach the IPL 2026 knockouts. Meanwhile, ninth-placed MI have already been eliminated after securing just four victories in 12 games.
