4 Massive Mistakes WWE Made at Clash in Italy

Clash in Italy was considered to be a huge success by WWE, but it seems that, despite the company being happy with the outcomes for several of the matches, there were still several mistakes throughout the show.

There was only one title change on the show, but there are some stories that could continue heading into Night of Champions next month. The following list looks at just four of the biggest matches that were made at WWE Clash in Italy.

#4. Brock Lesnar’s finisher was buried

Brock Lesnar retired from WWE at WrestleMania 42, before it was decided that he would make his return a few weeks ago and exact some revenge on Oba Femi. Interestingly, he was able to defeat Femi at Clash in Italy, but it took seven F5’s. It’s unclear why he needed to use seven finishers, but since Oba Femi kicked out of the move several times, it’s been made clear that it’s no longer effective.

This was probably known before Oba Femi’s match at Clash in Italy, since he took four F5’s on WWE RAW and was still able to return the next week. This could be a hint that Brock Lesnar is going to change his moveset, but it seemed like it was overkill on the night.

Oba Femi is also expected to wrestle tomorrow on WWE RAW, which shows that the finisher clearly isn’t as effective as it used to be if he is able to get back up as quickly as he could and wrestle another match a day after taking seven.

    #3. Where was Alexa Bliss?

It seems that the attack on Alexa Bliss on WWE SmackDown was to write her off the Premium Live Event so that she could force Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss to work together without her. Charlotte noted that she would sort Jade Cargill if Rhea Ripley didn’t, and that’s why she turned up at Clash in Italy.

Alexa Bliss took a Jaded on a steel chair, which is why she wasn’t at Clash in Italy, but she was still expected to be there wanting some revenge for the attack. Michin and B-Fab were there to help Cargill, so there should have been an even number on Ripley’s side, which made it strange to watch.

It’s unclear if Bliss will be back on SmackDown, since Jade and Rhea could have wrapped up their issues now, but Michin and B-Fab may still want to settle their issues with Charlotte and Alexa. If she is still injured, then Rhea and Charlotte may be forced to work together again.

#2. Gunther’s match finish at WWE Clash in Italy

Gunther‘s match kicked off the show and seemed to set the tone for the night, since Gunther came up short but only because of a referee botch. Gunther’s foot was under the rope so the referee shouldn’t have counted the pin, which left many fans confused.

If this were the angle, then there are many ways this could have ended to set up a rematch. Cody Rhodes even claimed on the post-show that if Gunther wants a rematch, then he could have one. But it was a cheap way for the match to end. If it was a botch, then why didn’t the referee realise what had happened and decide to let the match continue?

There were so many ways to wrap up this match and to kick off the show, and instead, WWE made it seem like The Ring General, the man who is proud of everything he does in the ring, actually botched the finish.

#1. Becky Lynch and Jessika Carr should have happened

This was the most disappointing moment of the night. Sol Ruca left the Women’s Intercontinental Championship, and Jessika Carr was already losing her temper mid-match, so why didn’t this boil over after the bell?

It should have been Becky Lynch blaming the official before the two women finally got physical after months of issues. That was the only way to make sense of this situation; otherwise, why was Jessika Carr chosen to referee again?

Carr was the one who disqualified Lynch at Saturday Night’s Main Event; she is the reason that Lynch was forced to have a rematch against Sol Ruca at Clash in Italy, so why was she the referee again? Surely at this point, Lynch is aware that she has an issue with her, and she should have spoken up and told WWE that she would not defend her title while she was the one in charge of the match.

The Man was happy to go ahead, defend her title, and lost it, so why didn’t she blame the official and at least start a fight with her? This has to be what this whole thing was building towards, otherwise none of the referee posts and angles make any sense.
