In the latest episode of WWE SmackDown, Jey Uso defeated Je’Von Evans and advanced to the finals of the King of the Ring tournament. The YEET Master and the Young OG delivered a great match, but the former was one step ahead of the former NXT star.
Jey will now lock horns with Oba Femi in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament. In this article, we will be looking at three theories why the Bloodline member advanced to the 2026 King of the Ring tournament finals.
Thanks for the submission!
#3. WWE planning Jey Uso vs. Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2026
The winner of the King of the Ring tournament will get a world title shot at SummerSlam 2026. Before the start of KOTR, Roman Reigns had already confronted the YEET Master and wanted him to win the tournament to get the Undisputed Championship.
With Jey advancing to the finals of King of the Ring, it appears that WWE is planning for a Cody Rhodes vs. Jey Uso match at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
This could be a theory why the YEET Master advanced to the finals of this high-profile tournament and defeated Je’Von Evans on SmackDown. It’s crucial to note that the American Nightmare is set to defend his Undisputed title against Gunther and Sami Zayn at Night of Champions 2026.
However, Rhodes is likely to retain the title at the Saudi Arabia show and eventually defend it at SummerSlam this year.
#2. To set the stage for Oba Femi vs. Bloodline feud
Putting Oba Femi and Jey Uso in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament could be a strategic attempt to book the Ruler vs. The Bloodline future feud in the Stamford-based promotion.
If the Nigerian star defeats the YEET Master at Night of Champions 2026, it would eventually set the stage for Oba vs. Roman at WWE SummerSlam 2026. In case the Ruler loses the match, he will seek revenge from the Bloodline in the near future.
So, in either way, Jey Uso moving to the finals of the King of the Ring tournament will set the stage for a Femi vs. Bloodline feud. This seems to be another possible theory why the Samoan Twin advanced to the finals of the tournament.
#1. Je’Von Evans isn’t ready for the main event push in WWE
After getting major buzz in NXT, Je’Von Evans debuted on the main roster. The Young OG has been getting a decent push. There is no doubt that Evans is the future star of the Stamford-based promotion. Despite having support from the WWE Universe, Je’Von is not ready for the main event push right now.
Initially, WWE should consider putting a mid-card title on him. After giving Evans a decent mid-card title reign, Triple H should move him to the main event scenario.
As Je’Von isn’t ready for a World title match, this could be another potential theory behind Jey Uso’s victory on SmackDown. Now, it will be interesting to see what happens in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament when Jey faces Oba Femi.
