WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIV is in the history books. It was filled with several moments that immediately got the wrestling world talking. The show successfully pushed multiple storylines forward ahead of Clash in Italy. Still, it also featured a few questionable booking decisions and awkward moments that left fans frustrated.

Here are the best and worst moments from WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIV.

#5. Worst: Charlotte Flair’s wardrobe mishap

One of the most awkward moments at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIV came during the six-woman tag team match. Charlotte Flair, Rhea Ripley and Alexa Bliss teamed up against Jade Cargill, Michin and B-FAB.

During the bout, Michin paid tribute to WWE legend AJ Styles by hitting Flair with a Styles Clash. However, as she went for the pin, The Queen appeared to suffer an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction. Her gear slightly slipped, briefly exposing her innerwear.

What made the situation even more notable was the company’s later posting the sequence on X. However, the clip itself focused more on Michin’s AJ Styles-inspired tribute during the match, which many fans praised online. Still, viewers quickly pointed out that the wardrobe mishap remained visible in the uploaded footage.

To Charlotte Flair’s credit, she handled the situation professionally and continued the match without losing focus. The Queen still played a major role in the bout and helped keep the action moving despite the unfortunate moment.

Nevertheless, the incident became one of the most talked-about parts of SNME XLIV. It may be because WWE’s production team chose not to cut the feed immediately.

#4. Best: Penta and Ethan Page stole the show

One of the biggest positives from Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIV was the incredible chemistry between Penta and Ethan Page. The two stars delivered arguably the best pure wrestling match of the night. They seemingly reminded fans why WWE’s mid-card scene has become one of the company’s strongest areas in 2026.

Penta entered the bout with his usual explosive offense and unmatched charisma. Meanwhile, Ethan Page continued showcasing the confidence and aggressiveness that have helped elevate him over the past several months. From the opening bell, both men worked at a frantic pace and kept the crowd fully invested.

What made the match especially enjoyable was how balanced it felt. WWE did not portray either superstar as significantly weaker than the other. This helped create several believable near-falls throughout the contest.

The crowd reactions also proved how invested fans are becoming in both men. Every major sequence received loud reactions, and the atmosphere elevated the match even further.

In a show packed with storyline-heavy moments and controversial finishes, Penta and Ethan Page simply went out there and wrestled an outstanding match. Sometimes, that is exactly what a major WWE special needs.

#3. Worst: Rhea Ripley taking a pinfall loss before WWE Clash in Italy

WWE made a surprising decision by having Rhea Ripley get pinned just a week before her title defense against Jade Cargill at Clash in Italy.

During the six-woman tag team match, Jade scored the decisive pinfall over Ripley. While the victory certainly boosted Jade’s momentum heading into the upcoming premium live event, it somehow made Mami look weak. Many felt WWE could have boosted The Strom’s momentum without pinning the reigning champion directly.

The result also created another issue. Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley surprisingly reconciled during the match instead of continuing their tension. Hence, fans now believe WWE could be saving their eventual showdown for SummerSlam.

If that is indeed the direction, Ripley taking a loss now may have complicated the booking slightly more than necessary.

#2. Best: The Vision retaining the World Tag Team Title?

The Vision retaining the World Tag Team Championship was perhaps the correct booking decision.

Logan Paul and Austin Theory have arguably become one of WWE’s most entertaining heel duos in recent months. Their chemistry continues to improve every time they appear together. Their match against The Street Profits at SNME XLIV further proved that.

Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins delivered another excellent performance and looked close to winning the title multiple times during the match. However, Paul Heyman’s interference completely shifted the momentum and allowed The Vision to escape with the victory.

While some fans were disappointed by the interference-heavy finish, it also reinforced the faction’s identity perfectly. The Vision has consistently relied on numbers, manipulation and chaos to maintain power, and SNME XLIV continued that trend.

Most importantly, the retention seemingly keeps The Vision strong during a crucial part of WWE’s summer build. Ending their reign too early could have hurt the faction’s momentum.

#1. Worst: Becky Lynch got herself disqualified

The most frustrating moment of the night came during Becky Lynch’s match against Sol Ruca.

What started as a solid contest quickly spiraled into chaos after Becky intentionally dragged referee Jessika Carr into the action. Carr ended up accidentally getting caught during a major sequence, which led to the referee calling for the disqualification.

The finish immediately deflated the crowd. Fans had been enjoying the match and were expecting a meaningful ending between Becky Lynch and one of WWE’s fastest-rising stars in Sol Ruca. Instead, the contest abruptly ended without a real conclusion.

The post-match segment only made things worse. Becky snapped after the disqualification and launched a brutal assault on Sol Ruca while continuing to argue with Jessika Carr. WWE clearly wants to present Lynch as increasingly unstable and aggressive. However, the booking choice still felt disappointing given the quality of the match beforehand.

Disqualification finishes can work when used sparingly. However, SNME XLIV already featured several interference-heavy moments throughout the night. Ending another important match without a decisive finish made the show feel overly reliant on controversy rather than clean storytelling.

While Becky’s heel character continues evolving in interesting ways, this particular segment ultimately hurt the match more than it helped the overall show.
