The final round of league games are finally here in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL). The Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns in Match 66 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, May 21.
The Titans are in the reckoning for a top-two spot, having already secured their spot in the IPL 2026 playoffs. They are on the back of a defeat at the hands of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) that snapped a five-match winning streak.
The Super Kings, on the other hand, are barely hanging on. While not mathematically out, their chances hang by a thread as they travel to Ahmedabad without MS Dhoni. CSK might just have to play for pride and look to spoil the hosts’ party.
GT’s squad for IPL 2026: Shubman Gill (c), Jos Buttler (wk), Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammad Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Rahul Tewatia, Washington Sundar, Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, Glenn Phillips, Jason Holder, Jayant Yadav, R Sai Kishore, Nishant Sindhu, Arshad Khan, Anuj Rawat (wk), Kumar Kushagra (wk), Connor Esterhuizen, Ishant Sharma, Kulwant Khejroliya, Luke Wood, Gurnoor Singh Brar, Manav Suthar, Ashok Sharma.
CSK’s squad for IPL 2026: Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, Dewald Brevis, Matthew Short, Urvil Patel (wk), Sarfaraz Khan, Anshul Kamboj, Gurjapneet Singh, Macneil Noronha, Ayush Mhatre, Kartik Sharma (wk), Prashant Veer, Dian Forrester, Noor Ahmad, Shreyas Gopal, Akash Madhwal, Mukesh Choudhary, Spencer Johnson, Zak Foulkes, Akeal Hosein, Rahul Chahar, Matt Henry, Kuldip Yadav.
IPL 2026: GT seek top-two boost as CSK fight to stay alive

GT’s decision to play Arshad Khan ahead of Prasidh Krishna has consistently hurt them in recent matches. It’s hard to see what Arshad adds to the team, with Shubman Gill clearly not trusting his bowling enough. If the Titans bring last year’s Purple Cap winner back, they will be the obvious favorites to get the job done.
Even otherwise, GT are probably likely to secure a convincing win over CSK. Chennai need Sanju Samson to get stuck in if they are to win, but up against Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada, that might not happen. Ruturaj Gaikwad is having one of the worst batting seasons in IPL history, and winning the powerplay seems difficult for the visitors.
CSK can play with freedom, and as always, it’s only a matter of a few magic deliveries to beat the top-heavy GT. However, Gujarat can be backed to come out on top.
Prediction: GT to win Match 66 of IPL 2026.
