On July 11 and 12, 2026, episodes 3 and 4 of The Husband aired on Disney+ and KBS2 at 9:20 pm KST. The show follows Kang Tae-ju, a neurosurgeon and director of Uri Hamkke Hospital, whose life unravels after he discusses a divorce with his estranged wife, Ko Se-yun, the hospital’s chairwoman. The day after their conversation, Se-yun is kidnapped.
The Husband stars Namkoong Min as Kang Tae-ju, Lee Seol as Ko Se-yun, and Kim Dae-myung as Noh Man-hee. Supporting performers include Lee Sang-hee as Kim Kyung-ae.
In The Husband episode 3, it’s revealed that the rift between Ko Se-yun and Kang Tae-ju stems from the death of their young daughter, Hayun. When their daughter was on the operating table, Se-yun kept calling Tae-ju, but he didn’t answer his phone. He arrived when their daughter had already been pronounced dead. This was one of the major reasons that caused the differences.
However, there’s more to it because in episode 4, a flashback shows Tae-ju hiding something with Se-yun. During this time, they had their daughter and were a happy couple. But Tae-ju is also shown not wearing their wedding ring.
On the other hand, The Husband episode 3 reveals that Noh Man-hee operates a local computer academy, Mr. Noh’s Computer Class, as a coding instructor. To his neighbors and in daily life, he presents as a polite and kind person living an ordinary existence. But no one knows about his double life, that he is the criminal who orchestrates the kidnapping of Ko Se-yun and holds women captive. His identity is still unknown to Tae-ju and the police.
Se-yun attempts to escape her captivity in episode 3. The Husband episode 4 shows that Se-yun fails to escape because Man-hee sees her making the attempt and rushes to the location. Se-yun gets caught when she attempts to help the other captive, Lee Seon-ja. Man-hee catches her doing so and locks her again. This time he also ties her hands behind.
What happened in The Husband episodes 3 and 4?
Episode 3 opens with a flashback to the wedding of Kang Tae-ju and Ko Se-yun. The couple appears happy on that day. The scene then shifts to a later period when their young daughter Hayun falls critically ill. Se-yun rushes the child to the emergency room and repeatedly tries to contact Tae-ju by phone. He does not answer the calls.
Other medical staff work to save the daughter, but she dies before Tae-ju reaches the hospital. Tae-ju had been occupied performing emergency surgery on another patient and remained unaware of his daughter’s condition until afterward. Se-yun holds him responsible for not being present.
In the present timeline in The Husband episode 3, Se-yun remains confined in a hidden room by Man-hee. She communicates with another woman, Lee Seon-ja, held captive in an adjacent space, speaking through a thick wall that prevents them from seeing each other. The two women discuss their marriages and the circumstances that led to their abductions. Se-yun learns details that prompt her to reflect on Tae-ju’s actions and efforts since her disappearance.
Noh Man-hee continues to maintain his public role at the computer academy. Neighbors describe him as the sweetest and kindest individual in the area. He interacts calmly with Se-yun during her captivity, providing a painkiller for an injury to her neck. He keeps a snow hourglass in her room and states that once the snow runs out, he’ll kill her.
At the police station in The Husband episode 3, Tae-ju faces questioning as the primary suspect in his wife’s disappearance. While there, a stranger approaches him in the washroom. The man states that he knows Se-yun’s location, asserts Tae-ju’s innocence, and provides an address along with a deadline of 11 pm. He warns that failure to arrive by that time will result in her death.
Police maintain close surveillance on Tae-ju in The Husband episode 3. He manages to escape from custody by running through the station hallways as officers attempt to stop him. Tae-ju’s mother and older brother arrive at the police station. They express belief in his account of events. Tae-ju remains determined to locate and rescue Se-yun despite his status as a fugitive.
He goes to the hospital and packs several surgical items, syringes, and vials. He then meets his friend Dr. Choi and tries to talk normally. However, just then, Dr. Ko, Tae-ju’s father-in-law, calls Dr. Choi and asks him about Tae-ju. Choi confirms he’s with him. Just then, Tae-ju attacks him, apologizes, and says he’ll explain to him later. The hospital guard tries to stop him, but Tae-ju attacks him as well.
Meanwhile, in The Husband episode 3, Se-yun takes action to free herself from her restraints. She applies the painkiller to make the skin around her ankle slippery enough to remove the chain binding her. She then attaches a weight plate to the chain and swings it toward the main door in an attempt to break free. Episode 3 concludes at this moment.
The Husband episode 4 again opens with a flashback. Tae-ju comes home after work and sees Se-yun sleeping on the sofa, waiting for him. He asks about Hayun, and Se-yun says she went to sleep after waiting for him. Since he appeared a bit stressed, Se-yun asks him, but he dismisses it. She notices that he’s not wearing his wedding ring. Tae-ju says he took it out for surgery and left it in the office. The reason behind this is still unknown.
In the present, Tae-ju stays on the run while police track his movements. He flees in a vehicle with officers in pursuit. During the chase, a police officer almost catches him, but he falls down the stairs. Tae-ju gives him first aid, calls an ambulance, and takes his gun with him. When the chief asks the paramedics about his colleague’s recovery. They reassure him that he will be fine due to the first aid. This creates a doubt in the Chief’s head about why Tae-ju would help him.
Meanwhile, in The Husband episode 4, Man-hee waits outside the police station, thinking Tae-ju is still there. He then checks the surveillance cameras and finds that Se-yun is trying to escape. He rushes to her. With the help of chains, wires, and the weight tied to her leg, Se-yun successfully breaks down her door. She then tries to find the keys to Seon-ja’s room, but Man-hee arrives and headbutts her. She’s back in a room, and this time her hands are tied behind her back too.
Kang Tae-ju ultimately reaches the location the mysterious man asked him to. The man’s room is filled with images of different people, maps, and news cutouts. The man also has images of Tae-ju and Se-yun. However, they both get into a fight when the man says that Tae-ju now needs to find it on his own, where Se-yun. The man asks Tae-ju to free Se-yun and give him the captor because he wants to kill him. The man reveals that the same kidnapper killed his wife.
Suddenly, Tae-ju injects him with a sedative. He looks into the man’s personal items and finds out his real name is Lee Su-hyeong, and he works at the National Police Agency. Lee then tells him how his wife was also abducted and killed by the same man. He told him that despite getting the money he demanded. The kidnapper kept delaying the release of his wife and also increased the ransom. Despite paying the high ransom, he still killed his wife and said it was his fault she died.
Su-hyeong tells Tae-ju that the kidnapper (Man-hee) kills his victim in 36-38 hours, and it has already been 15 hours since Se-yun’s abduction. So, Tae-ju needs to hurry. They plot together and plan to show what Tae-ju is doing to lure Man-hee.
On the other hand, in The Husband episode 4, Man-hee watches the news and feels impressed by Tae-ju’s escape. He then turns off all cameras, goes to Seon-ja’s room, and kills her. Seon-ja kept reciting prayers before dying. This further terrifies Se-yun.
Tae-ju visits his in-laws’ home and demands 3 billion won to free Se-yun. Dr. Ko refuses and tries to call the police. Just then, Tae-ju fires two shots at the ceiling. They ultimately give him the money. When they ask him whether Se-yun is still alive, Tae-ju answers that he believes so. The police later arrive, and Se-yun’s mother tells the Chief what Tae-ju said. This further confuses him about Tae-ju’s real motive.
The next day, in The Husband episode 4, while shopping, Man-hee watches the news about Tae-ju stealing the money, and he laughs about it. But his expression changes the moment they announce that he fired two shots.
Mr. Lee gives Tae-ju a different ID and name to infiltrate information from NFS about one case to lure Man-hee. In another scene, Man-hee goes to give Se-yun some food and threatens to kill her because of what she did. While he was closing the door, Se-yun noticed one sharp object near the door. When she tries to take it out, she suddenly remembers that Man-hee is watching and she needs to be careful.
Just as Man-hee watches her, a new camera activates and shocks him. On the other side is Kang Tae-ju, staring directly into the camera. This is where The Husband episode 4 ends.
The Husband episodes 5 and 6 will be released on July 18 and July 19, 2026, respectively.
