Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky’s youngest daughter, Emma, is engaged to undrafted NFL prospect Stone Eby.
The joyful news broke on Wednesday after Emma shared a series of photos on Instagram announcing the engagement, along with a heartfelt caption.
“The easiest yes to a lifetime with you ❤️.”
Emma and Stone have been together for a long time, first going public with their relationship while both were student-athletes at Southern Methodist University (SMU).
Emma was a tennis player for the Mustangs, while Stone played tight end for the football team. The couple quickly became one of the most followed pairs in college sports. They welcomed their first child, son Walter Boone Gretzky Eby, in August 2025, making hockey legend Wayne Gretzky a grandfather for the sixth time.
Now, less than a year later, the pair is engaged. Notably, Stone Eby went undrafted in the 2026 NFL draft primarily because of his limited production and athletic profile as a tight end at SMU. After going undrafted, Eby has been working to earn a spot as a free agent.
When Wayne Gretzky shut down Connor McDavid trade talk with a hilarious response
After losing back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals and a first-round exit in the 2026 playoffs, rumors started to gain traction around the future of Connor McDavid in Edmonton.
The Great One wasn’t about to help move the game’s best player out of Edmonton. When asked on The Pat McAfee Show in May about the idea of Connor McDavid joining a team like the Pittsburgh Penguins for the good of the NHL, Wayne Gretzky quickly shut it down with a witty jab.
“I kind of like my statue in Edmonton, I wouldn’t want to see it burnt down,” Gretzky joked.
He added:
“I know talking with Connor, he truly loves playing in Edmonton. Auston Matthews, I’m told likes playing in Toronto. It’s such a small world today, you can see every game on tv. I don’t think where you’re playing is gonna make any difference to the game or make it any bigger,” Gretzky said.
Connor McDavid is currently signed to a two-year, $25 million contract with the Oilers. The deal carries an AAV of $12.5 million.
