    Rajasthan Royals (RR) batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi slammed a six off SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins in the opening over of IPL 2026 Eliminator at New Chandigarh Stadium on Wednesday, May 27. Facing only his second delivery in a playoff match, he deposited a six over long-off. That came as Cummins bowled a fuller-length ball outside off to complete the first over of the match.

    Suryavanshi has previously slammed Cummins for a six in his opening over when the duo faced off earlier this season. The 15-year-old has already hammered sixes off quality bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, among others. Notably, the southpaw amassed 583 runs in 14 matches at a strike rate of 232.27, including one century and three fifties, in the league stage this season.

    Vaibhav Suryavanshi continued his carnage in the IPL 2026 Eliminator. After welcoming Cummins with a six in his first over over, he hit him for three more maximums in a 25-run over in his next over. He slammed 23 runs off the bat, including a four, as soon as his opening partner, Yashasvi Jaiswal, took a single off the first delivery.

    The youngster didn’t stop at that and slammed Sakib Hussain for three sixes in the next over to reach his 16-ball half-century. During his knock, he also eclipsed IPL legend Chris Gayle (59 sixes) for most sixes in a season in the T20 league. In addition, the youngster also became only the fifth player to reach 600 runs in IPL 2026.

    At the time of writing, the Royals were 63 without loss after four overs, with Vaibhav (54* off 16) and Jaiswal (run-a-ball 8) at the crease.

    The two teams have met each other twice this season. The SunRisers won both games by 57 runs and five wickets, respectively. As a result, the Royals would be keen to avenge their defeats by reaching Qualifier 2.
