How to get Ancient Shinobi in Universal Tower Defense X
You can get Ancient Shinobi from the Shinobi Alliance challenge in Universal Tower Defense X. This challenge can be accessed by interacting with the Shinobi War NPC standing outside the Upgrades building at the lobby.
In Shinobi Alliance, you’re tasked with beating the Ancient Shinobi boss. This boss keeps sending waves of Armored and Flying enemies to attack the Gaaru NPC near your base. Protect Gaaru by completing quick-time events, all the while defeating the enemies marching on the two lanes connected to your base.
A bar at the top of the screen shows the percentages for Gaaru and Ancient Shinobi. The match is over if the bar falls to 0% for Gaaru. On the other hand, the Ancient Shinobi boss appears on the map when its side of the bar reaches 0%, which can be done by killing the enemies sent on the lanes.
Coffins spawn all over the map at regular intervals during the match. You can open them by spending Yen and receive different buffs.
There is a 5% chance of getting the Ancient Shinobi as a reward from the Shinobi Alliance challenge. You’re guaranteed to obtain the unit after 30 runs, courtesy of the pity meter.
Evolution requirements for Ancient Shinobi in Universal Tower Defense X
Any unit can be evolved after interacting with the Evolutions NPC. To evolve Ancient Shinobi to Ancient Shinobi (Reawakened), acquire the following:
- 3x Universal Fragment
- 4x Phantom Fragment
- 8x Burning Fragment
- 10x Ocean Fragment
- 30x Village Ramen
- 20x Chakra Essence
- 1x Gunbai
- 25,000 Gold
Village Ramen and Chakra Essence are exclusively dropped by the Kitsunox Struggle Ultra Boss. Since this boss has immense health, it is advised to team up with friends before tackling the challenge.
Gunbai is an evolution item purchasable from the Inner Beast section of the Ultra Shop. It is only needed to evolve the Ancient Shinobi.
Fragments of all kinds can be acquired by finishing Challenges and Acts in the Legend Stage. They can also be bought from the Virtual Merchant shop and the Merchant NPC.
Passives of Ancient Shinobi (Reawakened) in Universal Tower Defense X
Ancient Shinobi (Reawakened) cycles between four weapons every five attacks. Excluding the Shuriken, all the other armaments inflict debuffs and also affect the unit’s stats. The unit also applies the Confusion debuffs on enemies while possessing no weapons, causing them to move the opposite way.

Ancient Techniques of Old
- Ancient Shinobi (Reawakened) applies different effects with its Attack 1 and 2.
- Attack 1 applies the Confusion debuff on enemies for 2 seconds.
- Attack 2 applies the Burn debuff for 15% Damage over 6 ticks. Moreover, any enemies hit take +20% Damage.
Weapon Proficiency
- The unit gains Stun Immunity.
- Every 5 attacks, it cycles between 4 weapons: Gunbai, Giant Shuriken, Kama, and Shuriken.
- Gunbai inflicts Confuse for 3 seconds.
- Giant Shuriken inflicts Confuse for 3 seconds but gives -20% Attack Speed to the unit.
- Kama inflicts Bleed for 15% Damage over 6 ticks, and gives +35% Range and -5% Damage to the unit.
- Shuriken provides +50% Range, -20% Damage, and +25% Attack Speed.
Samurai Technique (Active Ability)
- Unlocked at the final upgrade.
- Changes the unit’s attack to Meteoric Crash. (Different stats)
- After Etherealization 2, the unit switches to using the Wood Style: Forest. It deals +15% Damage for 15 seconds.
- The Active Ability has a cooldown of 30 seconds.
Reanimation (Active Ability)
- Unlocked at the final upgrade.
- Removes all placements and sets the placement limit to 1.
- The unit offers a re-place bonus with this passive. All units that are placed next have an extra 150% Damage (200% Damage if the Ancient Shinobi has Etherealization 6)
- The effects of the Active Ability reset if the unit is sold or deleted.
The Wisest
- Every 5 seconds, before the second upgrade is made to the unit, the Ancient Shinobi (Reawakened) gets +2% Damage (+5% at Etherealization 4).
- The unit can get up to +30% Damage with this passive ability.
