In one of the most heartbreaking news stories of the day, Triple H has announced that WWE Hall of Famer Dory Funk Jr. has passed away. The Game penned an emotional message in remembrance of the late veteran.
Thanks for the submission!
Triple H paid a tribute to the late WWE Hall of Famer Dory Funk Jr.
Dory Funk Jr, also known as Dorrance Earnest Funk, was the son of Dory Funk and brother of Terry Funk. Dory was a major name in the pro wrestling circuit for multiple decades. He wrestled for the global juggernaut in 1986 and made a few non-wrestling appearances for the company after hanging up his boots. He was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019
Triple H recently took to X to announce the death of the Hall of Famer, highlighting his WrestleMania 2 appearance. The Game also sent love and support to Dory’s family.
Saddened to announce the passing of Dory Funk, Jr. From the Double Cross Ranch to the WWE Hall of Fame, Dory’s style inspired countless performers in our industry. Whether it was at WrestleMania 2, WCW, ECW, or the dozens of NWA-affiliated promotions, his travels across North America and Asia were a part of the early blueprint that helped build this business into a global phenomenon. A hard-nosed and fierce competitor, his rugged in-ring style was only eclipsed by the decades he spent training athletes to perform in the squared circle he loved so much. My thoughts and those of the entire WWE Universe are with his loved ones during this difficult time,” – Triple H posted
While Dory Funk Jr did not wrestle much in WWF, he was a major name in NWA and All Japan Pro Wrestling. The veteran continued to wrestle regularly till 2017, with his last match coming in 2024. Funk was backstage for the Royal Rumble event in 2024, and even made an appearance at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 25, 2025.
We at Sportskeeda Wrestling would like to send our condolences to Dory Funk Jr.’s family.
