NBA star Jaylen Brown is the newest addition to the Philadelphia 76ers after they traded Paul George to the Boston Celtics. On Monday’s episode of the podcast “Cousins with Vince Carter & Tracy McGrady,” the latter made a bold claim about Brown.
According to the former NBA star, Brown has reportedly reached out to the young backcourt tandem of Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe. However, he hasn’t had a conversation with the star big man, Joel Embiid, since the trade was finalized.
Thanks for the submission!
“JB was on a stream the other day and he reached out to Maxey, and he talked to VJ. But I don’t think he hasn’t spoken to Embiid yet,” McGrady said.

“You know they their thing in the past years, personal thing going on. Now, they’re teammates and I don’t think there’s been a conversation between the two. At least, not to my knowledge. I haven’t heard anything going. So, that’s not a good sign.”
NBA fans, however, were shocked by what T-Mac said and believed that his claims were untrue. Fans took the chance to mock the Hall of Famer on X. Here are some of what the fans said.
“TMac becoming gossip girl in retirement is an interesting development,” a fan said.
“This is actually incorrect. Even Mike Gansey said they have and that Embiid was excited and also surprised when it went down. TMAC is really lying to stay relevant in the media…..😂🤡” another fan commented.
“cuz why the f**k would they tell TRACY MCGRADY about their conversations,” one fan said.
More fans reacted to what McGrady said about Jaylen Brown.
“I’m going to put a little more stock in the Sixers GM publicly saying they have spoken,” someone commented.
“And who tf is Tracy Grady to know what’s going on in Philadelphia’s locker room,” a comment read.
“Literally nobody would tell bruh anything. Why is he even talking? I’m dying right now,” one fan commented.
The Celtics Need a “Grieving Process” After the Jaylen Brown Trade, Mazzulla Says
It was a shock that the Celtics decided to end Jaylen Brown’s tenure via trade this offseason. He was one of the core players of the franchise, next to Jayson Tatum. Recently, The Athletic reached out to coach Joe Mazzulla to ask about the deal.
“There needs to be a grieving process for losing not just a player in Jaylen, but a person in Jaylen,” said Mazzulla. “There needs to be a grieving process that this guy, what he has done on the court and what he’s done in the community and what he’s done for the city of Boston, there should be a grieving process. But the … gray area is throughout that loss, you’re also gaining.”
Jaylen Brown did a lot for the Celtics, helping them become a consistent playoff team during his 10-year stay with the franchise. He also led them to a championship in 2024, earning Finals MVP honors.
