Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) player Tim David took an outstanding catch to dismiss Mohammed Siraj as his team beat Gujarat Titans (GT) by 92 runs in IPL 2026 Qualifier 1. With the catch, the Titans were bundled out for 162 while chasing 255. As a result, the defending champions, RCB, secured their berth in the IPL 2026 final.

GT earned their victory in the ultimate over of the match. Krunal Pandya bowled a fuller length ball on the stumps, and Siraj tried to go downtown but miscued it in between mid-on and mid-off. David sprang towards his right and covered a lot of ground before diving full-length to complete a stunning catch. RCB teammates celebrated the wicket and the victory with happy faces on the ground.

Rajat Patidar leads by example as RCB beat GT to reach IPL 2026 final

A clinical batting display from skipper Rajat Patidar set the tone for RCB’s massive win over GT in 2026 Qualifier 1. The right-hander scored an unbeaten 93 off 33 balls, an innings laced with nine maximums and five boundaries. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya contributed an identical score of 43. Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder took two scalps apiece for the Titans.

In response, GT lost their top three inside the powerplay. Sai Sudharsan got out hit wicket before Bhuvneshwar Kumar cleaned up skipper Shubman Gill for two runs. Jos Buttler came up with an attacking approach, scoring 29 off 11 balls before Josh Hazlewood knocked him over to dismantle the Titans in a 250-plus chase. Rahul Tewatia put up a lone fight, scoring 68 runs off 43 balls with the help of four sixes and eight boundaries.

Jacob Duffy emerged as the leading wicket-taker for RCB, finishing with figures of 3/39, while Krunal Pandya and Rasikh Salam Dar bagged two wickets apiece.

Since GT finished inside the top two spots in the IPL 2026 points table, they will get another chance to reach the IPL 2026 final. The Shubman Gill-led team will play Qualifier 2 at New Chandigarh Stadium on May 29. Meanwhile, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will lock horns in the Eliminator at the same venue on Wednesday, May 27.
