The Lucid Gravity’s Latest Update Brings Hands-Free Driving And Google Maps Information

    • The Lucid Gravity just got a big software update.
    • On Monday, the EV startup said its big SUV is getting a hands-free driver-assistance feature.
    • The update also adds adaptive high beams and “Predictive Charging Power.”

Lucid on Monday said a new update is starting to roll out to Gravity SUVs that adds hands-free driving and other features.

Vehicles equipped with DreamDrive Pro 2 will get Hands-Free Drive Assist, a feature that (under driver supervision) takes over steering, braking, and acceleration on certain highways. Think of it as the startup’s equivalent to Super Cruise from General Motors or Ford’s BlueCruise. The Air, Lucid’s sedan, gained the capability last year.

The new driver-assist feature also includes automated lane changing capability. Drivers can initiate a lane change by signaling a turn or let the system decide when it’s best to pass slower traffic by switching on an Automatic Lane Change function.

It comes as the EV startup is embarking on a more serious push into autonomous driving. Gravity robotaxis, powered by software from Nuro, are supposed to hit the Uber app later this year. Lucid showed off a concept for a two-seat autonomous pod like Tesla’s Cybercab earlier this year. And the company says its upcoming midsize vehicle will eventually gain Level 4 self-driving capability—that is, true eyes-off driving without the need to intervene—with help from Nvidia’s autonomy stack.

The Gravity’s software got off to a rocky start after deliveries began in earnest in 2025. We noticed gremlins when we tested the three-row SUV for our Breakthrough EV of the Year Awards last year. The key fob didn’t work consistently, the steering wheel buttons sometimes required several stabs, and we weren’t the only reviewers who noticed glitches here and there.

But the Gravity still earned an Editor’s Choice award from us last year thanks to its outstanding packaging and performance. Lucid says it has since ironed out the bugs through a series of over-the-air updates (OTAs).

The latest OTA brings a slew of additional upgrades beyond hands-free driving. The Gravity gains adaptive high beams, which register oncoming drivers and shut off just the section of the beam that would blind them. Its navigation system now shows Google Maps point-of-interest information, including reviews, photos, and “improved business details.”

And there’s some cool stuff for the EV geeks too. A new feature called Advanced Preconditioning View displays the Gravity’s battery temperature relative to its optimal performance window for charging. And that screen now shows a prediction for peak DC charging power based on the vehicle’s state and battery temperature.

The update is launching to Gravity SUVs in North America starting on Monday.
