Team India were spotted at Mumbai airport as they departed for Sri Lanka for the upcoming two-match Test series. The visitors will first play a three-day warm-up game, scheduled to take place from August 7 to 9 in Colombo. The opening Test will then begin on August 15 in Galle, while the second and final game is set to commence on August 23 in Colombo.

The upcoming series is part of the ongoing 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, with India currently sitting fifth in the standings with a 48.15 PCT, followed by Sri Lanka in sixth with 41.67 PCT.

Check out the clip of the Indian team arriving at the airport below:

Meanwhile, India’s last Test tour of Sri Lanka came in 2017, when Virat Kohli’s side dominated the hosts to complete a 3-0 series clean sweep. The last Test series between the two sides was played in India in 2022, with the hosts once again prevailing 2-0 in the two-match assignment.

Overall, the two neighbouring countries have faced each other in 46 Tests, with India dominating the head-to-head record with 22 wins. Sri Lanka have won seven matches, while the remaining 17 ended in draws.

India suffer major blow ahead of Test series as star pacer ruled out with injury

India have suffered a major setback ahead of their Test series against Sri Lanka, with ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah ruled out due to the left knee injury he sustained during last month’s away ODI series against England.

Jammu & Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi has been named as his replacement, earning his maiden India call-up in the process. The 29-year-old has featured in 43 first-class matches, claiming 162 wickets, including 16 five-wicket hauls. He has also contributed 999 runs with two half-centuries to his name.
