Tata Motors is set to launch the much-awaited Sierra EV in India today, June 30. The electric SUV will make its debut in an all-new avatar and will be positioned between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV in the company’s expanding electric vehicle lineup. Ahead of the official unveiling, Tata has released multiple teasers revealing key details about the SUV’s design, cabin, technology and performance.

One of the biggest highlights comes from the latest teaser, which hints at the Sierra EV’s driving range. The digital instrument cluster shows 424 km of remaining range with the battery charged to 80 percent. While Tata Motors is yet to reveal the official figures, the display suggests the SUV could offer a claimed range of over 500 km on a full charge.

The latest teaser has also revealed the cabin in greater detail. The Sierra EV features a modern dashboard layout and a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata EV logo. Another notable addition is a dedicated Boost Mode, which can be activated using a physical button on the centre console. The feature is expected to temporarily unlock maximum power and torque.

The SUV will also come with multiple Terrain Modes. In one of the teaser videos filmed on the Tal Moreeb sand dunes in Abu Dhabi, the driver display shows Sand Mode in operation, indicating that the Sierra EV has been engineered to tackle a variety of driving conditions.

Tata Motors has already confirmed that the Sierra EV will be offered with an all-wheel-drive option. Higher variants are expected to feature the company’s Quad Wheel Drive dual-motor setup, first introduced on the Harrier EV, while lower trims are likely to use a single electric motor driving one axle.

Tata Sierra EV launch today: Check likely price

Tthe electric SUV is expected to carry a starting price of around Rs 17.50 lakh (ex-showroom), according to several media reports. It will be positioned between the Nexon EV, priced from Rs 12.49 lakh, and the Harrier EV, which starts at Rs 21.49 lakh.

Tata Sierra EV: Cabin and features

The Sierra EV is expected to be loaded with premium features. Lower variants could get a dual-screen dashboard layout, while top-spec versions are likely to feature a triple-screen setup similar to the recently unveiled ICE Sierra. Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, a powered tailgate, a 360-degree camera, connected car technology, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a 12-speaker JBL audio system with Dolby Atmos support.

    Tata Sierra EV: Design

On the outside, the Sierra EV retains the iconic silhouette of its ICE counterpart while incorporating several EV-specific design elements. These include a closed-off front fascia with a body-coloured panel, connected LED DRLs, vertically stacked LED fog lamps, flush-fitting door handles, aerodynamic alloy wheels and a full-width LED light bar at the rear.

    Tata Sierra EV: Powertrain

The Sierra EV is expected to be offered with multiple battery pack options, including 55 kWh and 65 kWh units. Higher variants could also borrow the larger 75 kWh battery pack from the Harrier EV. Fast-charging capability is also expected, allowing the battery to be recharged quickly using DC fast chargers.

Tata Motors is also likely to extend its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme to the Sierra EV, giving customers the option to purchase the vehicle separately from the battery through a subscription-based ownership model, thereby reducing the upfront purchase cost.

Once launched, the Tata Sierra EV will rival the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric and Maruti Suzuki e Vitara in India’s rapidly growing electric SUV segment.
