Portuguese Primeira Liga giants Benfica are reportedly interested in the services of Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo. The Englishman has been at Stamford Bridge since arriving on a free transfer after a stint with Fulham in 2024.

Adarabioyo, 28, has scored seven times in 72 games across competitions for the Blues. However, he netted just twice in 29 outings across competitions last season, with both stikes coming in five outings in the FA Cup, where the Blues lost to Manchester City in the final.

Despite being contracted to Stamford Bridge till 2028, Adarabioyo has caught the attention from Benfica, where he could reunite with his former Cottagers head coach Marco Silva, as per BBC Sport football journalist Nizaar Kinsella.

Besides the Portuguese giants, another unnamed Premier League club are also interested in the services of the Blues man, who won the UEFA Europa Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup under Enzo Maresca in 2025.

Having made his professional debut with Manchester City, Adarabioyo spent three seasons at the Etihad but didn’t play in the Premier League, making only eight appearances across cup competitions.. He spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan with West Bromwich Albion and the next campaign with Blackburn Rovers.

Chelsea commenced their pre-season with a 6-4 victory over Western Sydney Wanderers Down Under, with Joao Pedro bagging a second-half hat-trick, before losing 2-1 to Tottenham Hotspur at the same ground three days later.

New boss Xabi Alonso’s side tripped again, losing 1-0 to Juventus in Hong Kong, before returning to winning ways with a 3-0 victory over AC Milan in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Blues then drew 3-3 with Malaysia Super League team Johor Darul Ta’zim at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskander Puteri, last week.

Alonso’s side conclude their pre-season against Real Sociedad at Stamford Bridge on Saturday (August 15) before opening their campaign for a first Premier League title in 10 years with a trip to Fulham on August 24.

The Blues have no continental football this season, having finished outside the European places last season.
