Operation Sheruwali enters Day 7; searches continue in J&K’s Rajouri

JAMMU: A joint team of the Army, J&K Police and CRPF continued hunting two to three terrorists believed to be holed up in the dense forests of Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan belt in Manjakote sector of Rajouri district as Operation Sheruwali entered its seventh day Friday.Helicopters, drones and sniffer dogs were assisting the troops on the ground, officials said. Additional reinforcements were also rushed in to plug possible escape routes and assist the forces in the ongoing anti-terror operation, which was launched on May 23 after a brief fire exchange between ultras and security personnel. On Thursday, heavy firing and shelling took place in Dorimal as the search party continued to tighten the cordon. Earlier, security forces busted a terrorist hideout containing some essential commodities on May 25, the third day of the operation. The spot was later destroyed.Several top officers, including the Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma and IG CRPF (Jammu) Amol V Homkar, visited Rajouri in the past week for operational review and situational assessment.
