Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inspected two major Palkhi Marg highway projects in Pune district, reviewing safety measures, construction progress and environmental planning for routes used by lakhs of Warkaris during the annual Wari pilgrimage to Pandharpur. The government is upgrading the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg (NH-965) and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg (NH-965G) into four-lane corridors with dedicated 3.5-metre walking lanes, plantation cover and enhanced durability standards to modernise pilgrimage infrastructure while preserving the centuries-old spiritual tradition.
