While speaking to the media during OTAs on Thursday, coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that running back Isaac Guerendo had torn a pectoral muscle while lifting weights. He is expected to be out until late in summer/preseason camp as a result:

In the wake of the developments, the 49ers have signed two running backs.
Jordan Mims, an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State in 2022, has spent the bulk of his career with the New Orleans Saints, tallying 141 total offensive yards (70 rushing and 71 receiving). He was on the Tennessee Titans’ squad in 2025.
Jermar Jefferson was a seventh-round pick for the Detroit Lions out of Oregon State in 2021. He vacillated between their practice squad and active roster for four seasons, during which he scored two rushing touchdowns. The Titans also signed him to their practice squad in 2025, before he was picked up by the Arizona Cardinals.
To make room for these signings, former Las Vegas Raider Sincere McCormick has been waived.
49ers edge rushers also making progress in injury recoveries
Speaking of 49ers injuries, edge rusher Nick Bosa said about healing from a torn ACL:
“I’m pretty far along. [I’m] out on the field doing a lot of stuff, trying to just take it slow because I tend to push things quicker. I got injured pretty early last year, so there’s plenty of time for me to really kind of lay the groundwork to be ready for a long season. It’s going really well, and I plan on being ready.”
Meanwhile, Kyle Shanahan spoke in behalf of Mykel Williams (ACL) and Keion White (ankle):
“They’re coming along. They’re all in there rehabbing with a number of other guys. A couple of those guys will have a chance of training camp. We’ll see with Mykel as he goes.”
The team’s OTAs will run until June 4. Mandatory minicamp will be on June 9 and 10.
