Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is scheduled to defend his title against Gunther at Clash in Italy. Ahead of the premium live event, a popular star took a dig at The American Nightmare.

In addition to his ongoing feud with The Ring General, Rhodes is also involved in an intriguing storyline with Sami Zayn. Tensions between the two stars have been growing exponentially over the last few weeks. The Great Liberator has often voiced his frustration about the Stamford-based promotion treating Rhodes as the protected “Golden Boy.”

Earlier today, The American Nightmare took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a video of a golden skull mask he is likely to be wearing during his entrance at the upcoming premium live event. Sami Zayn quote-tweeted the post and took a subtle dig at Rhodes.

“I ain’t even going to say anything,” Zayn wrote.

You can check out his tweet below:

Rhodes and Zayn locked horns on the May 22 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. In a controversial finish to the bout, the Undisputed WWE Champion floored The Underdog From the Underground with a Cross Rhodes after interference from Gunther. However, after the match ended, The Ring General locked Cody in a sleeper hold, and Zayn turned his back on Rhodes.

Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn fell out again during a backstage segment last week on the blue brand’s show. Interestingly, Rhodes noted that after he had defended the gold against Gunther, he planned on teaching Zayn a lesson.

WWE Hall of Famer made a massive claim about Cody Rhodes’ ongoing feud with Gunther

Gunther is among the top heel performers on the WWE roster. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, wrestling legend Bully Ray made a massive claim about his ongoing feud with Cody Rhodes.

The wrestling veteran opined that Gunther was the perfect heel to go up against the Undisputed WWE Champion. He claimed that if booked correctly, The Ring General could be more dominant against Rhodes than The Rock was during their feud.

“This is the heel for Cody. This is the, give me a second before I spit this one out. If done right, Gunther can impose his will on Cody more effectively than The Rock did,” Ray said.

Gunther and Rhodes have already traded blows leading up to their title match at Clash in Italy. It will be interesting to see who leaves the Inalpi Arena with the Undisputed WWE Championship.
