Welcome to a brand new edition of Sportskeeda Wrestling’s WWE News and Rumor Roundup. Today, we’ll cover whether a major star has left the promotion ahead of SummerSlam, unfortunate news for Becky Lynch, and a massive update on Nikki Bella’s in-ring status.
Let’s get started:
Thanks for the submission!
#5. Major update on WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella
Earlier this year, Nikki Bella suffered an ankle injury on Friday Night SmackDown when The Bella Twins faced Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. The injury forced the company to pivot, and Paige filled in for Nikki at WrestleMania 42, where she and Brie won the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in a Fatal 4 Way tag team match.
On a recent episode of The Nikki & Brie Show, the former Divas Champion announced that she successfully passed her evaluation at the Performance Center and is now cleared to compete, potentially making her in-ring return on the weekly product soon.
Nikki Bella’s last match for the Stamford-based promotion was in March before WrestleMania 42. With The Fearless One on her way back, it’ll be interesting to see what’s next for Paige and Brie Bella as a tag team in the company.
#4. Tom Brady in talks with WWE – Reports
Earlier this week, Tom Brady was at Fanatics Fest, where he confronted The Vision’s Logan Paul. Brady eventually slapped The Maverick and had an intense encounter at the finals of the FIFA World Cup as well. While many assumed it was for Fanatics, it could be more than that as WWE is headed towards The Biggest Party of the Summer.
According to TMZ Sports, the 7-time Super Bowl champion has been in conversation with the Stamford-based promotion. As of now, the two parties have had talks, and it’ll be interesting to see whether Tom Brady steps inside the squared circle for a match, possibly against Logan Paul.
#3. Bad news for Becky Lynch ahead of WWE SummerSlam 2026 – Reports
From turning heel on Charlotte Flair to winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship from Bianca Belair in less than thirty seconds, Becky Lynch has created iconic moments for the Stamford-based company at The Biggest Party of the Summer on different occasions. Unfortunately, The Man might not compete at the event in Minneapolis.
According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, the former three-time Women’s Intercontinental Champion won’t return to the weekly product after SummerSlam in Minnesota. Based on the report, The Man could miss the premium live event in the coming weeks.
Last year, Becky Lynch defeated Lyra Valkyria in a Last Chance match for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. The Man’s last match in the promotion was in June. It’ll be interesting to see what’s next for Big Time Becks in the Stamford-based promotion when she returns to the weekly product.
#2. More matches announced for WWE SummerSlam 2026
WWE recently hosted SummerSlam Kickoff, and Gunther was livid following Saturday Night’s Main Event. The Ring General had a heated conversation with Triple H in front of the fans in attendance, and it didn’t go the way he wanted. Nick Aldis showed up, and the two brawled on stage.
The officials stopped the brawl, and The Game confirmed that Gunther will go one-on-one against Nick Aldis at SummerSlam in Minnesota. At Saturday Night’s Main Event, Aldis appeared ringside and hit Gunther with CM Punk’s title, which allowed Punk and Cody Rhodes to win and keep their upcoming match intact at SummerSlam.
Earlier this year, Danhausen entered a feud with The Judgment Day and scored a definite win against JD McDonagh at Saturday Night’s Main Event in New York with Karl-Anthony Towns’ help. Today, Triple H confirmed that Danhausen will go one-on-one against Dominik Mysterio in Minnesota. The feud with the villainous faction started when the former AEW star cursed Dirty Dom.
#1. Bayley gone from WWE, according to Lyra Valkyria
Last month, Lyra Valkyria turned heel on Bayley after they failed to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship from Paige and Brie Bella. The two have been feuding for a few weeks and faced each other in a singles match at Saturday Night’s Main Event in New York.
The match ended brutally for Bayley, and the former Women’s Intercontinental Champion took it further with an assault following her win. On the recent edition of Monday Night RAW, Valkyria stated that she had dropped some weight and claimed that The Role Model is out of WWE.
This comes following rumors that Bayley’s contract is coming to an end and speculation that she’s heading to AEW. NXT’s Kelani Jordan requested Bayley ‘not to leave’ in a post on Instagram, which further hints that the multi-time WWE Women’s Champion is done with the Stamford-based promotion. It’ll be interesting to see what’s next for Bayley.
