Udhayanidhi Stalin’s arrest – over allegedly vulgar comments about a popular actress – has led to a showdown between Tamil Nadu’s ruling TVK and the opposition Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. Stalin junior, a former deputy chief minister and the son of party boss MK Stalin, made the comments during a protest rally – on the Cauvery water-sharing row – in Thanjavur.

Two firefighters killed in Noida chip factory fire
A massive fire broke out late Monday night at the ILGIM electronic chip manufacturing unit in Noida’s Ecotech-3 industrial area, killing two firefighters and injuring three others. At least six fire brigade vehicles were rushed to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the full extent of the damage to the facility — which manufactures electronic components — is yet to be assessed.
