South Africa take on Jamaica at the Hidalgo Stadium in their final warm-up game on Friday before taking center stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Having struggled for results this year, Bafana Bafana will be keen to secure a morale-boosting victory before facing host nation Mexico in the World Cup curtain-raiser on June 11.

Jamaica will be absent from the World Cup, following a heartbreaking end to their qualifying campaign, as they fell to a 1-0 extra-time defeat against DR Congo in their winner-take-all playoff final on March 31.

Rudolph Speid’s men bounced back in a friendly against India on May 27, when they secured a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Courtney Clarke and Charlton Athletic striker Kaheim Dixon at the Valley Stadium.

However, Jamaica were outclassed and outplayed by Nigeria in their Unity Cup clash in London last Saturday as they fell to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the West African giants.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s run of form heading into the World Cup has been hugely unconvincing, with Bafana Bafana playing out a goalless draw against Nicaragua in their penultimate warm-up game last Friday.

Since their AFCON round-of-16 exit at the hands of Cameroon in January, Hugo Broos’ side have failed to win their three outings, playing out stalemates against Panama and Nicaragua on either side of a 2-1 defeat against Panama in the second of their friendly double-header on March 31.

South Africa will open the 2026 World Cup with the first game of the tournament against co-host Mexico on June 11, before taking on Czechia and South Korea in the two subsequent Group A games.

Jamaica vs South Africa Head-To-Head and Key Numbers

    • This will be the sixth meeting between the two nations, with South Africa claiming one win and four draws from their previous five encounters.
    • Their first meeting came in May 1999, when they played out a 1-1 friendly stalemate, while their last encounter was in April 2010, when South Africa secured a 2-0 victory in a friendly at Bieberer Berg Stadion.
    • South Africa have failed to win five of their last six matches across all competitions, losing three and claiming two draws since December 2025.
    • Jamaica have lost just two of their last eight games across all competitions, while picking up four wins and two draws since October 2025.

    Jamaica vs South Africa Prediction

With their World Cup opener on the horizon, South Africa will be keen to secure a morale-boosting result and iron out tactics ahead of the game against Mexico.

While key players are expected to be handed limited minutes, we predict Bafana Bafana will do just enough and come away with a close victory.

    Prediction: Jamaica 1-2 South Africa

Jamaica vs South Africa Betting Tips

Tip 1: Result – South Africa to win

Tip 2: Both sides to score – Yes (Both sides have scored in four of South Africa’s last five games)

Tip 3: Over 10.5 corners – No (There have also been fewer than 11 corner kicks in Bafana Bafana’s last five outings)
