Instamart, India’s quick commerce platform, on Tuesday announced a partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to launch the country’s first on-demand LPG cylinder delivery service on a quick commerce platform.

The tie-up also marks the market debut of HPCL’s newly launched ‘HP Navya,’ a next-generation 10 kg composite LPG cylinder.

The service will first go live in Bengaluru, where consumers will be able to order the HP Navya cylinder directly through the Instamart app, along with the existing 5 kg metal LPG cylinder.

According to the companies, no existing domestic LPG connection will be required to place an order, making the service available to a wider base of consumers, including students, working professionals, and smaller households that may not hold a formal gas connection.

First-time orders will be fulfilled as new cylinder purchases, with identity verification and proof-of-delivery documentation built into the process. Subsequent orders will be treated as refills, with the empty cylinder collected at the time of delivery.

The HP Navya cylinder has been positioned by HPCL as a lighter and corrosion-resistant alternative to conventional steel cylinders, with a translucent body that allows users to monitor gas levels. The company said the compact design is aimed at apartments, small families, and households seeking a convenient secondary LPG cylinder.Orders placed through Instamart will be fulfilled via HPCL’s existing network of authorised distributors, with delivery carried out by the distributor’s trained personnel under applicable safety and regulatory protocols.

Amitesh Jha, CEO, Instamart, said the company has expanded well beyond groceries to become part of consumers’ everyday lives, and that the HPCL partnership extends that convenience to an essential household service while maintaining safety and reliability standards.

Amit Garg, Director-Marketing, HPCL, said the company is focused on making LPG more accessible for “Naya Bharat,” with an emphasis on safety and trust. He added that the Instamart partnership would help HPCL reach customers through a fast, digitally enabled platform while enhancing the overall customer experience.

Instamart currently delivers over 50,000 SKUs across more than 131 cities in India. The company said the LPG launch marks its entry into high-trust categories, deepening its role in consumers’ daily lives. For HPCL, the partnership extends its distribution network into a new, tech-enabled channel.

The companies did not share a timeline for expansion of the service beyond Bengaluru.
