IndiGo flight 6E 6017 was heading out for departure from Bengaluru when the smoke was spotted, prompting an immediate evacuation. All passengers and crew have been safely moved to the terminal, a spokesperson for the airline said.

“On 26 May 2026, while IndiGo flight 6E 6017 from Bengaluru to Chennai was taxiing out to the runway for departure, smoke was noticed in the aircraft. In the interest of safety, an immediate evacuation was carried out and all the relevant authorities were informed,” the spokesperson said.
All customers and crew are safe and are being attended to by IndiGo teams at the terminal, the airline added. An alternate aircraft has been arranged for the flight, which is set to depart shortly. Refreshments are being served to passengers as they wait, the spokesperson said.
