ONE women’s atomweight kickboxing world champion, ‘The Queen’ Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom of Thailand, carries the weight of being a champion gracefully. What happens when the outside noise turns ugly is a different conversation entirely.

That attention is not always kind. The bigger the platform, the louder the criticism, and Phetjeeja has never been the type to pretend it simply rolls off.

Asked about the most difficult part of competing at the highest level, her answer had nothing to do with opponents. She told ONE Championship:

“I’d say dealing with social media comments. When you run into negative comments or hurtful criticism, I have to admit I do take it to heart sometimes, and it can get under my skin pretty quickly.”

Phetjeeja is one of the most accomplished female strikers of this generation. Still, she deals with her set of detractors from time to time.

‘The Queen’ is turning out the noise ahead of her bid for two-sport glory. The Team Mehdi Zatout fighter will vie for the ONE women’s atomweight Muay Thai world title against the Brazilian mom-champ Allycia Hellen Rodrigues at The Inner Circle on Friday, June 19.

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues says she’s ready for Phetjeeja’s crisp boxing

Allycia Hellen Rodrigues knows the threat of Phetjeeja’s sharp hands. ‘The Queen’s’ ferocious boxing combinations have powered her to victory against legendary figures like Janet Todd and Anissa Meksen.

That said, Rodrigues made sure to sharpen her boxing skills and take the challenger head-on.

The defending ONE women’s atomweight Muay Thai world champion said during their face-off with Phetjeeja:

“We know Phetjeeja is good at boxing. She will show it to everyone. But I also train boxing. And I also have many things to bring for the fight. I have my clinch, my knees. I will give my hundred percent,”
