Comedian Druski recently shared a screenshot of Chris Rock calling him the “best host ever” after he hosted the 2026 BET Awards, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 28. Chris Rock hosted the BET Awards for the first and only time in 2014, and the actor seemed impressed with Druski’s hosting ability.

On June 29, the comedian took to Instagram Story to share a screenshot of a text message that Rock sent him, saying he was “incredible” at the awards ceremony and had “officially retired” him.

“Hey incredible. Best host ever. You officially retired me. Hats off your the best,” the message read.

Chris Rock previously discussed hosting the BET Awards in a March 2015 interview with BET. He called the annual awards ceremony “the most fun” he had ever had hosting an awards show, saying he would love to return to his hosting duties someday.

“The whole thing was probably the most fun I’ve had doing an awards show. You know, I’ve hosted the Oscars, the MTV awards, but the BET Awards was by far the most fun. It was the best audience, the biggest laughs. It’s just a fun show. I really love it, I love the show. I hope to do it again someday,” Rock said.

Exploring Druski’s viral moments from the BET Awards

Druski didn’t let the momentum slip for even a moment as he went all out for his hosting duties at the BET Awards. The comedian, known for his comedy sketches, revived his megachurch pastor character from a sketch that went viral earlier this January. The character is known for aggressively collecting donations and Druski took things a step further, roasting Stevie Wonder during the sketch by displaying the singer’s reported net worth in what he said was Braille.

The comedian also poked fun at Jay-Z’s Roots Picnic freestyle in Philadelphia last month, where the rapper turned heads for seemingly dissing his peers, including Drake and Nicki Minaj. During the BET Awards, Druski tried his hand at some freestyle bars, rapping,”You say I’m nominated, but the locks are segregated/I’m the sh*t, which means I’m constipated.”

Druski also revived his Coulda Been Auditions series by auditioning three people on stage, including a “gangster” with a BBL, Durand Bernarr, and a white man, who was eliminated for not being Black. And that’s not all. The comedian has some brushes with famous faces in the audience, and his interaction with Ray J and Keke Palmer went viral online.

While walking down the theater, Druski spotted Ray J and questioned him about his health scare earlier this January, where the singer claimed he only had months left to live and that only 25% of his heart was working. The comedian questioned why Ray J lied to people, saying:

“Why you lie to us, man? I thought you was gon’ be dead. I’mma get away from you, man. Ray J, you know that’s wrong, man. You lied to all of us! I was praying for you and everything. We was rooting for you!”

His other viral interaction was with Keke Palmer, who shut down his attempts at a flirtation by saying that she wasn’t at the awards for a relationship. Palmer also snatched the microphone away from the comedian and joked that the hosting gig should have been hers, before welcoming Cardi B onstage for her performance.

“Why the hell would they have you host? And this is the problem with BET. They be tripping because this should have been me. I got it. This next performance is by a Grammy Award-winning artist who came through dripping, it has been up til it’s stuck. Give it up for the one and only Cardi B,” Palmer said.

In other news, Chris Rock was not the only comedian and actor to praise Druski for his hosting gig at the BET Awards. Martin Lawrence, who attended the event, gave a nod of appreciation for the comedian in his Instagram post about the awards ceremony, writing, “Shoutout to my brotha @druski who brought that.”
