Hollywood actor Tom Holland shared his experience of working with Lionel Messi during the promotions of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The latest instalment of the MCU franchise hits theatres on July 31.

Lionel Messi recently featured in a short teaser for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, alongside Tom Holland, who plays the titular MCU hero. The ad featured Messi looking for Spider-Man and then Holland appearing in front of him in his avatar. The final shot, which went viral among netizens, featured Messi and Holland jumping down a high building to test the superhero’s abilities.

In a recent talk during the promotions of The Odyssey, Tom Holland was asked where Lionel Messi ranked among his co-stars. The Spider-Man actor, who describes himself as a Messi fan, said (via HITC):

“Oh, pretty high! Pretty high! I mean, he’s the GOAT. He’s probably the GOAT of GOATs. If you put all the greatest performers together, he’d be at the top of that list. What a legend! What a treat! I’m so touched that he was willing to do that for our movie, because he never does things like this. I think his kids are really big Spider-Man fans. What an absolute legend.”

Messi has previously been spotted imitating Spider-Man’s iconic gestures after scoring for Inter Miami during MLS and other games. He later explained they were dedicated to his three sons, Thiago, Mateo, and Ciro, who appear to be big Spider-Man and MCU fans.

Despite being one step behind touching 40, Lionel Messi has been at his absolute best at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He could lead Argentina to their third World Cup final in his career if they beat England in the semi-finals on July 15.

Apart from that, Messi has been in terrific form throughout his World Cup, scoring eight times so far. He is a frontrunner to win his first World Cup Golden Boot, although Kylian Mbappe is tied with him in that regard. The legendary Argentine also scored his first hat-trick in the World Cup in Argentina’s opening game in the tournament.

Moreover, Lionel Messi is also the all-time highest goalscorer and the all-time highest assist provider in the history of the FIFA World Cup, having broken both records in this campaign. If Messi wins another World Cup with Argentina after his triumph in 2022, it will only further cement his legacy as among the greatest footballers of all time.

However, a tough battle with England awaits Messi in the semi-finals, as the legend will face the Three Lions for the first time in his career.
