The latest Campfire update in Grow a Garden (June 6, 2026) introduced a wide range of new content, including the crafting station, Campfire Egg, exclusive crops, and several event-limited pets. Among these additions is the Nightjar, a Mythical companion designed to help players strengthen their existing pets by granting valuable experience and passive boosts.
This guide covers everything you need to know about the Nightjar in Grow a Garden, including how to obtain it, its passive ability, hatch chance, and other important details.
How to get Nightjar in Grow a Garden

The Nightjar can only be obtained by hatching the Campfire Egg, where it has a 9.5% hatch chance. The Campfire Egg is a Mythical rarity item that can be crafted at the Campfire workshop. To craft one, you will need:
- 1x Rare Egg
- 1x Mango Seed
- 1,000,000,000 seconds
Once you have placed the required materials into the workshop, the Campfire Egg takes around 45 minutes to craft. Once crafted, you can hatch it for a chance to obtain the Nightjar. Since its hatch rate is relatively low compared to the rarer Fire Wisp critter, you may be able to obtain one after hatching only a few eggs.
Nightjar’s passive in Grow a Garden

The Nightjar is a Mythical pet with 10,000 Hunger and features a unique support passive called Call of the Night:
Call of the Night
The Nightjar occasionally consumes a random fruit with the Moonlit mutation and grants both a Small XP Boost and a Small Passive Boost to one random pet in your garden. Favorited fruits are ignored, preventing the pet from consuming valuable crops.
Furthermore, if the consumed fruit also possesses the Bloodlit mutation, the Nightjar instead grants a Large Passive Boost, making it especially valuable for players farming rare mutation combinations.
