One of AEW’s weekly TV shows, Saturday Night Collision, witnessed a massive ratings boost this past weekend. The episode not only featured a number of top stars and several action-packed matches, it saw the long-awaited return of a former World Champion, Hangman Adam Page, as well.
The July 11 edition of AEW Collision aired from the Berglund Center in Roanoke, Virginia this past weekend. The episode presented three title matches, with Bandido retaining his ROH World Championship against Katsuyori Shibata, Hikaru Shida retaining her TBS Championship against Harley Cameron, and Mark Davis successfully defending his National Championship against “Speedball” Mike Bailey. The show also featured a singles showdown between Brian Cage and Zachary Wentz, and a quick matchup between Darby Allin and Trent Beretta.
Furthermore, The Death Riders were in tag action against Top Flight, Komander and AR Fox. Collision also aired segments featuring Matt Sydal, The Demand and The Lethal Twist, Willow Nightingale and The Conglomeration, The Divine Dominion, The Sisters of Sin, Women’s World Champion Thekla, International Champion Kyle Fletcher, and Andrade El Idolo- not to mention the much-awaited return of former World Champion Hangman Adam Page for the first time in months.
With such a loaded program, it was no surprise that last Saturday’s AEW Collision witnessed a massive jump in ratings, drawing an average of 409,000 viewers (compared to the figure of 310,000 viewers for the July 2 show). The 18-49 key demo rating remained unchanged at 0.05. The episode reportedly faced tough competition from the ongoing FIFA World Cup, among other programs.
