Two former NFL players agree that Chicago Sky guard DiJonai Carrington further impeded racial progress in America by basically blaming her ejection on Saturday on “white privilege.”
“This is a prime example of why we can’t ever move forward as a country,” former NFL player Breiden Fehoko wrote on X about Carrington’s accusation.
“For every person who liked this bullsh*t and is encouraging this victim-a** mentality, you should be ashamed. It’s honestly sad how far we’ve drifted as a country.”
For background, Carrington hard-fouled Fever forward Sophie Cunningham on Saturday on a play that more closely resembled a clothesline than a play on the ball. Carrington left Cunningham bloodied in the mouth. She was rightfully called for a Flagrant 2 and ejected from the game.
Moments later, Carrington posted “white privilege” on Threads from the locker room, as if racism was the reason for her ejection.

Former NFL player and podcaster Emmanuel Acho also pushed back on the claim.
“DiJonai Carrington posted ‘White Privilege’ from the locker room after being ejected for fouling Indiana Fever’s Sophie Cunningham,” Acho wrote on X, reacting to a screenshot of Carrington’s post. “Judge for yourself, but color didn’t have nothing to do with the flagrant 2. IMO.”
He continued on his podcast:
“Can we stick to basketball for a moment? She flagrantly hit Sophie Cunningham in the head … the refs made the right call.”
“Now, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention .. this was not a race-based decision. To call that a white privilege-based foul is to completely undermine the term of white privilege and to also completely ignore the rules in basketball. You hit her in the head. You drew blood. You didn’t connect with the ball at all whatsoever.
“So to me, it was just very ignorant and, to some degree, asinine by D.J. Carrington to suggest that that call was based on white privilege. Have we seen examples of white players make that same foul and get away with it? Have we seen examples of black players make that same foul and get away with it? Yes. There was no white privilege involved in that specific call.”

WNBA FACES DISCIPLINE DILEMMA AFTER CARRINGTON’S ‘WHITE PRIVILEGE’ POST TARGETING INDIANA FEVER
While Acho and Fehoko are covering the matter honestly and with reason, most of the media is not. Earlier on Monday, OutKick documented some of the most cringeworthy remarks in defense of Carrington.
Most notably, former ESPN anchor Cindy Brunson argued that Sophie Cunningham was the one who deserved to be ejected – not Carrington, who clotheslined her.
You read that correctly.
Elsewhere, the WNBA pregame shows on NBC and ESPN have avoided discussing Carrington’s post. In fact, NBC host Maria Taylor didn’t just ignore it, but accused those criticizing Carrington of injecting her into the “culture war,” as if she played no role in doing so.
The race-lady duo of Jemele Hill and Cari Champion also, predictably, rushed to Carrington’s defense.

As we explained, members of the sports media cannot bring themselves to cede an inch of ground in the culture war. That means never, under any circumstances, criticizing a black lesbian in defense of a straight white woman.
Good for Acho and Fehoko for not subscribing to this worldview.

Carrington deserved to be ejected. She deserves to be suspended. And neither has anything to do with race.
