Tokens in Escalation has been a controversial topic among The Division 2 community. The core system of Escalation allow players to wage a number of tokens, with a guaranteed ROI from completion of the activity. However, this return is sometimes unfair on the leaders of a party, as they have to wage a lot more with respect to the party size. This allows for a punishing return compared to other party members.
Amidst the recent Delta-03 server errors, the leaders within an Escalation party were hit the hardest, when they lost a lot of tokens upon getting kicked out of the game, after investing several tokens into a run.
Thankfully, Ubisoft seems to have taken note of this, and have promised to bring in changes in the future.
The Division 2 game director promises to make tokens less punishing for Escalation party leaders
After the weekly reset on May 12, 2026, many players were victims of the infamous Delta-03 error in the game, forcing the developers to hold another downtime maintenance. Within this time, the community expressed their frustrations on many issues on the game, one of which included the punishing token distribution of the party leaders in Escalations.
The Division 2’s game director quickly took note of this, and replied to the concerns saying that it was never their intention to “punish” the leaders while waging for an Escalation. On the contrary, they feel that the leaders should be rewarded more for risking all the tokens.
The exact timeframe for this change remains unknown for now. However, considering how weighted this feedback has been in the recent time, Ubisoft can be expected to deploy something with the next weekly reset, on May 19.
