NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Sunday urged authorities not to cut off water supply to restrooms at the Jantar Mantar protest site as thousands of protesters remained gathered, demanding the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In a post on X, Dipke wrote: “I request the authorities not to cut off the water supply to the restrooms at the Jantar Mantar protest site. Since last night there’s no water supply at the public restrooms.”His remarks came after protesters continued their sit-in at Jantar Mantar late into Saturday night, defying police directions to vacate the venue after the permitted protest hours ended. Demonstrators, led by the Cockroach Janta Party, have been demanding accountability over repeated examination-related controversies and seeking Pradhan’s resignation. Earlier, the CJP also alleged that the Delhi Police had switched off lights at the protest site and restricted access to food and washrooms. He also requested police to not stop anyone from coming at Jantar Mantar as they are just seeking justice for the students who committed suicide.“I request the police to not stop people from coming at Jantar Mantar. We are not doing anything wrong, we are just seeking justice for the students who committed suicide,” Dipke wrote on X.Meanwhile, the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination is being conducted across the country on Sunday under extensive security arrangements. More than 22.79 lakh candidates are expected to appear at 5,440 examination centres across 551 cities in India and 14 centres abroad.Dipke also conveyed his best wishes to candidates appearing for the examination and invited them to join the protest after their tests concluded.“Best of luck to all NEET re-exam aspirants. Our best wishes are with you. Join us at Jantar Mantar after your exam ends, we are looking forward to meeting you all!” he wrote on X.The CJP also targeted the education minister over the ongoing agitation, alleging that protesters were being denied basic facilities.“Dharmendra Pradhan is sleeping peacefully in his lavish government residence – 12 children have committed suicide, but it makes no difference to him. But for the youth protesting against him, there isn’t even water in the bathroom. Resign, Dharmendra Pradhan!” the party said in a social media post. The protest, which began on Saturday under heavy police deployment, is the second demonstration organised by the CJP at Jantar Mantar over the NEET issue. Protesters have vowed to continue their agitation until the education minister steps down, while Delhi Police has maintained that the demonstration was only permitted between 10 am and 5 pm and warned organisers of possible legal action for continuing beyond the approved hours.
