Newly released video shows the deadly path a gunman took through a Twin Falls, Idaho, In-N-Out Burger and the surrounding area during last week’s shooting that killed three people and wounded seven others.

Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks released a detailed timeline and blurred video of the Aug. 1 attack, showing how the shooting unfolded and how an off-duty Idaho State Police trooper, a former law enforcement officer and an armed bystander confronted the gunman as customers and employees fled.

Police previously identified the gunman as 24-year-old Chad Williams and said investigators believe he acted alone. Authorities have not determined a motive.

Hicks said Friday that police would not use Williams’ name during the briefing out of respect for the victims and a desire to keep the focus on their stories.

Dispatchers received the first 911 call reporting an active shooter at the In-N-Out restaurant at 2:29 p.m., according to police.

The video begins with the gunman pulling into the restaurant’s drive-thru, where police said he shot and killed restaurant employee Ashley Garibay. He then pulled forward, got out of his car and shot and killed restaurant patron Christopher Claunch with a handgun in the drive-thru.

Former Twin Falls police officer and Idaho State Police trooper Austin James Scott, known as AJ, ran toward the gunfire and confronted the gunman, according to police. Scott drew his handgun but was pulled into a car by others and given aid due to severe blood loss.

Police clarified Friday that Scott was not the off-duty Idaho State Police trooper who also responded to the attack, addressing misinformation that had circulated online.

The gunman then retrieved a rifle from his Honda Civic as an off-duty Idaho State Police trooper inside the restaurant helped evacuate employees and customers while searching for the shooter.

Video released by police shows the trooper and gunman exchanging fire. A bystander who tried to assist the trooper and provide aid to a victim inside the restaurant was also shot, police said.

The gunman then moved toward Blue Lakes Boulevard, where police said he shot three people who were stopped at a red light.

An armed bystander opened fire on the gunman, who ran toward a nearby Tesla charging station, according to police.

Previous Fox News Digital reporting identified the armed citizen as Jordan Salinas, 35, of Kimberly, Idaho. Police have said the actions of the armed citizen and off-duty trooper helped drive the gunman away from the restaurant and prevent further casualties.

At the charging station, police said, the gunman shot a person inside one Tesla before shooting Dale Schultz, who died, and wounding Schultz’s passenger in a second Tesla.

The gunman continued toward the Twin Falls Visitors Center and a nearby trail as officers closed in, police said. People evacuated the visitors center, while three others sheltered inside as he entered the building.

Police said an employee later confronted the gunman on the trail, giving others time to escape.

Officers pursued him toward the canyon, where an officer found him near the edge behind a shopping center. Police said the gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and his body fell into the canyon.

Officers then returned to help victims as firefighters, paramedics and other emergency personnel provided aid.

Police said the actions of bystanders, employees and first responders helped save lives during the attack.

Investigators are still working to determine what prompted the shooting.
