Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha appeared on CSB Sports after the FIFA World Cup semifinals, and he was asked to pick his winner. The 40-year-old refused to pick between Argentina and Spain, and gave a neutral answer.

Cape Verde are one of the two sides at the 2026 FIFA World Cup to face both the finalists. Vozinha played in both games and impressed fans worldwide as he stood between the posts.

The 40-year-old kept a clean sheet on his FIFA World Cup debut against Spain, as his side held the 2010 champions to a goalless draw. They faced Argentina in their first-ever knockout stage game, and took the defending champions to extra time. Lionel Messi scored the lone goal for Argentina in normal time, as they went on to win 3-2 after extra time.

On CBS Sports today, Vozinha refused to pick between Spain and Argentina, saying that he does not care about the winner. He added that whoever deserves to win will eventually lift the trophy and said:

“As a football player, as my person, I really don’t care. For me, football, sometimes even you are better. Sometimes the things are going another way, but I expect who deserves to win will win the game.”

Apart from Cape Verde, Austria also faced both the FIFA World Cup 2026 finalists. They lost 2-0 to Argentina in the group stage and 3-0 to Spain in the Round of 32.

Spain and Argentina go into FIFA World Cup final unbeaten

Spain kicked off their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign with a goalless draw against Cape Verde. However, they followed it up with a 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia and a 1-0 win over Uruguay to seal the top spot.

The Spaniards showed their class in the knockout stage, winning 3-0 against Austria in their Round of 32 clash. They knocked out Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portugal with a late 1-0 win in the Round of 16, thanks to Mikel Merino’s goal in the 91st minute.

Spain conceded for the first time, but still managed a 2-1 win over Belgium in the quarterfinal, before dominating France in the semifinal. They won 2-0 to set up the clash with Argentina.

The defending champions had a stunning group stage, beating Algeria, Austria and Jordan with ease. However, their knockout stage has been rough, as they needed extra time to beat Cape Verde in the Round of 32 and a late comeback to beat Egypt by the same scoreline – 3-2.

They struggled to beat 10-man Switzerland, but eventually managed a 3-1 win in extra time, before another late comeback win over England in the semifinal.

The two sides meet in the World Cup final on Sunday, July 19.
