Chelsea Green’s WWE future is currently in doubt as the Women’s Champion

Chelsea Green found herself achieving what has been a lifelong dream for her, as she won the Women’s Ladder Match at SummerSlam to become the WWE Women’s Champion. However, less than a week later, she was injured during a tag team match on SmackDown, where she fractured her orbital bone. To add insult to injury, literally, she also lost the match, taking the pin. There have been rumors about her being stripped of the title since then.
This author can now exclusively report that sources within the company have confirmed that while there are worries about Green and there has been talk of her being stripped of the title, it’s not happening immediately. The current status is waiting and watching what happens and how bad the injury is. While the idea was for her to be an active champion, and that cannot happen now, they are waiting to see how long she will be out. There is a split in the writers’ room where a proposal was made to take the title from her, but it hasn’t happened yet.
“There’s a lot of worry around Chelsea Green. There’s a split currently in the writer’s room about what to do. Right now, the consensus is to wait and watch. The injury does appear to be a bit bad due to the fracture, but people have been on TV with that sort of injury before. She does not need to wrestle immediately. Some people feel that with Rhea not defending the title so long due to injury, Green needed to be seen as an active champion. Her not wrestling means that won’t happen. Stripping the WWE title from her was proposed by a couple of people, but mostly that’s not going to happen. If she can’t wrestle for multiple months, then the situation will change, but that’s not the case now.”
Another source said that it might be time now to get the best from the star given her work out of the ring, which she is expected to lean into.
“We might even get the best of Chelsea right now because she will have to put forward her charisma right now in a non wrestling role and she thrives there.”
