Bengaluru: Aster DM Quality Care on Friday said it will invest Rs 1,315 crore in Karnataka to expand its healthcare network, with new hospitals and capacity additions planned across Bengaluru.

The announcement comes weeks after Aster DM Quality Care began operations following the completion of the merger between Aster DM Healthcare and Blackstone-backed Quality Care India.

The merger, completed on July 2, brought together four healthcare brands – Aster DM, CARE Hospitals, Evercare and KIMSHEALTH – creating one of India’s largest integrated healthcare providers.

The investment was announced after Aster’s executive chairman Dr Azad Moopen met Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to discuss the company’s expansion plans in the state.

As part of the investment, the company is developing a 550-bed Aster Hospital in Yeshwantpur, a 460-bed Aster Hospital in Sarjapur, and adding 350 beds at Aster CMI Hospital in Bengaluru.

“Karnataka has been a cornerstone of Aster’s growth in India and remains one of our most strategic markets. The state’s progressive healthcare ecosystem and clinical talent make it a key market for us,” Moopen said in a statement.

“Our planned investment of Rs 1,315 crore reflects our long-term confidence in Karnataka. We remain committed to partnering with the government to strengthen healthcare infrastructure, expand access to advanced medical care, promote medical education and research, and improve healthcare outcomes for the people of the state,” he added.Aster DM Quality Care currently operates 39 hospitals with more than 10,600 beds across India. In Karnataka, it has four hospitals with 1,329 operational beds, including Aster CMI Hospital, Aster RV Hospital, Aster Whitefield Hospital and Aster Women & Children Hospital.

The planned expansion will increase the company’s capacity in Bengaluru through new hospitals and additional beds while supporting investments in medical education, skill development, healthcare technology, research, innovation and medical tourism, the company said.

“The scale and capabilities of Aster DM Quality Care position us to accelerate the next phase of healthcare transformation in Karnataka,” managing director and group chief executive officer Varun Khanna said in a statement.

Alisha Moopen, director at Aster DM Quality Care, said the company was focused on building an integrated healthcare ecosystem that combines clinical care, digital innovation, medical education and research alongside expanding hospital capacity.
