Air India to launch seasonal Mumbai-Toronto non-stop flights from October 25; deploys new Dreamliner on Delhi route

Air India will launch a seasonal Mumbai-Toronto non-stop service from October 25 and deploy Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on Delhi-Toronto flights as it expands capacity to Canada for the Winter 2026-27 schedule.

The airline said the Mumbai-Toronto service will operate three times a week until March 26, 2027, making Air India the only carrier to offer direct flights between the two cities during the winter season. The expansion will add about 4,400 seats every month between India and Canada and increase premium seat capacity to Toronto by 71%.

The move comes as Air India expands capacity on one of its key international markets, where demand is driven by family travel, business links and the Indian diaspora. Alongside launching a new Mumbai-Toronto route, the airline is deploying new and upgraded aircraft on Toronto services to offer a uniform onboard product across the market.

The new Mumbai-Toronto flights will be operated using upgraded Boeing 777-300ER aircraft configured with eight First Class suites, 40 Business Class flat beds and 280 Economy seats. The aircraft will also offer onboard Wi-Fi connectivity.

Air India also said it has started operating its brand-new Boeing 787-9 aircraft on Delhi-Toronto flights, bringing its latest cabin products to Canada for the first time.

During the Winter 2026-27 schedule, seven of the 10 weekly Delhi-Toronto flights will be operated by the new Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The remaining three weekly services, currently operated by Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, will transition to the Boeing 787-9 from January 2027 as additional aircraft join the fleet. Also Read: IndiGo to discontinue wide-body operations effective October 25, end Norse Atlantic lease

From January 2027, all Air India flights to and from Toronto will feature either new or significantly upgraded cabin interiors, the airline said.

Passengers travelling between Canada and India will also be able to connect through Air India’s hubs in Mumbai and Delhi to destinations including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ludhiana and Vadodara.

“Canada is one of Air India’s most important international markets, with deep people-to-people connections driving strong demand for travel, particularly during the festive and holiday season. The launch of our seasonal Mumbai-Toronto service this Winter will provide travellers more choice and convenience at a time when many are travelling to reunite with family and friends,” Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India, said.

“At the same time, we are also progressively introducing our newest aircraft and the latest onboard products to North America, reflecting our intent to put our best foot forward in one of the world’s most competitive long-haul markets. Together, these initiatives mark another important step in our journey to make Air India a world-class airline and the preferred gateway between India and the world,” he added.

In the Winter 2026-27 schedule, Air India will operate 20 weekly flights between India and Canada, including 10 weekly flights from Delhi to Toronto, three weekly flights from Mumbai to Toronto and seven weekly flights from Delhi to Vancouver.
