Sports broadcaster Al Michaels caught the attention of fans on Thursday. He was in the booth covering the preseason game between the Cleveland Browns and the New England Patriots.
However, instead of wearing a suit as usual, Michaels casually wore an unbuttoned blue-striped shirt on Prime Video. Social media was flooded with comments reacting to the broadcaster’s outfit choice to cover the preseason game.

Al Michaels was joined by Kirk Herbstreit in the booth for the game. The Cleveland Browns secured a 37-13 victory over the Patriots. This was their first preseason victory after losing the first two games to the Bears and the Bills. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel impressed with his performance, completing 12-of-15 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns. 2026 182nd pick Taylen Green also saw playing time, completing five of seven passes for 27 yards.

After the Browns scored a touchdown, the broadcast showed off the scenery and Lake Erie near Huntington Bank Field.
Al Michaels commented on the picturesque scenery while cracking a joke at Donald Trump’s expense. This was after he issued an executive order to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America.
“That is Lake Erie,” Michaels said. “We think it is still called Lake Erie, we’re not quite sure at this point. But we’ll be by Lake something like Ontario or whatever it’s going to be called by the time we get to Buffalo.
“Anyway, you know what I’m talking about. Read the news.”
In January, it was announced that Michaels would return as Amazon Prime Video’s lead play-by-play announcer for the 2026 season. He’s been calling NFL games for over four decades and has held this role at Amazon since they acquired Thursday Night Football in 2022.
