How to Party Like a Local in Mykonos, According to a Seasoned Veteran

    3. Choose your sunset venue by its volume

Sunset can be a lowkey drink before dinner or it can be the evening’s main event, so decide which vibe you want before reserving a table—and by vibe, we mean volume. The Garden, on the hillside property that Yehudi Menuhin acquired after visiting in 1962, keeps the music low enough for conversation. Scarpa in Little Venice draws a standing crowd and raises the house music as the light drops. Scorpios is the full commitment, with a terrace program that begins in late afternoon and can carry the night toward dinner. Check the artist calendar before booking, since your friend’s triumphant TikTok posted on Sunday says very little about Wednesday’s fete.

Watching the sunset can be a whole evening’s activity if that’s what you’re into, although there’s more to come once night falls.

    4. Dinner can be your final destination, but it doesn’t have to be

In Mykonos Town, dinner can likewise contain your whole evening, complete with entertainment, or merely set things into motion. Lío is the full-night choice, building an à la carte meal around modern cabaret before becoming a club at 12:30 a.m. If you intend to move afterward, finish dinner first and keep the rest of the night on foot. A sealed to-go cocktail from TYCO buys time while the group settles on a mood. From there, Skandinavian means a loud courtyard and familiar summer hits. Astra offers a more polished dance floor beneath its ceiling of fiber-optic stars, while Lola keeps jazz and chanson at conversational volume. For drag, Jackie O’ carries the island’s queer nightlife tradition into the early morning.

    5. Drink locally, then follow the Greek chorus

Though Mykonos imports most of what appears in its ice buckets, the island makes its own wine and beer and it’s easy to find time to enjoy both. Mykonos Vioma pours organic estate wines at its farm near Ano Mera, while Mikònu moved its taproom in 2026 to Mathios Taverna in Tourlos, where prickly-pear ale comes with dinner and a sea view. After dark, look for a room that has a Greek accent. Nōema’s Sounds of the Avli brings Greek-rooted live and electronic performance to a reservation crowd. On its Greek-music nights, Thalami offers the less polished version after midnight, when regulars and seasonal staff take over the choruses. If a panigiri is taking place in Ano Mera, ask a local when to arrive and attend as a guest rather than a customer.
