Arteta would probably be too worried about him losing the ball

Former England star Chris Waddle has urged Bradley Barcola to pick Liverpool over Arsenal. He believes that the PSG star would do better under Andoni Iraola than Mikel Arteta.

Speaking to Tribal Football, Waddle said that Barcola can play his natural game at Liverpool as he will have that freedom under Iraola. He claimed that Mikel Arteta would be scared about him losing the ball, and added that he would not be able to express himself on the pitch.

“If I was advising Barcola, I’d tell him to go to Liverpool because he’s going to have more license to play his own game under Andoni Iraola. To be able to go and do what he does, because that’s why people want to spend all that money to sign him. At PSG, he gets the ball and takes on his full back, but if he played for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta would probably be too worried about him losing the ball.”

“Suddenly he’s lost 50% or 75% of his game. If he plays for Liverpool, Iraola will want him to take on defenders, run at people and create danger. That’s too much of a risk for a manager like Arteta. If I was Barcola, and I was picking between the two, I’d go to Liverpool.”

Arsenal and Liverpool are chasing Barcola this summer, and the PSG star is available. The Frenchman is keen on leaving the Ligue 1 side to play regularly, and the interested clubs have been quoted €140 million.

Luis Enrique refused to comment on Liverpool and Arsenal target’s future

PSG manager Luis Enrique was quizzed about Bradley Barcola this week, and the Spaniard refused to comment on him. He said that the transfer window leaves everyone’s future in the balance, and he was unwilling to comment on a single player’s transfer rumour.

“I don’t know and I don’t want to speak about any player individually because, you know, it’s always dangerous when you are asking something positive or negative about a player and I stay focused on my team.” (via Sky Sports)

Arsenal have shown interest in Barcola after missing out on Morgan Rogers to Chelsea. They were pushing to sign the Englishman before the Blues hijacked the deal and signed the forward from Aston Villa.

The Gunners then tried to sign Vinicius Jr from Real Madrid, but the Brazilian opted to reject the offer and signed a new deal at the Santiago Bernabéu.
