Arsenal legend Thierry Henry say down with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani for an interview after the FIFA World Cup. The Frenchman was a constant presence on FOX’s transmission from the USA, as he got a chance to visit the country once again this summer.
Mamdani asked Henry for his thoughts on a comment he made about New York being the best place 14 years ago. The former Arsenal man reiterated his stance, explaining that the city being a sort of meeting point for various kinds of people makes it the best for him.

“The way I am is very close to a New Yorker. I’ve been coming here since ’95, right? And so a New Yorker will let you know where he stands. And I love that. Then you see the mix of the city. And that’s not, I mean, that’s how the world should be. That’s how the world is.
New York for me does represent how the world is, right? Because if you go to Queens, you know, you can find whatever you want. You go to Brooklyn, I’m talking about, you know, the Colombian Queens, you can do the Italian in the Bronx, whatever it is. I’m not going to go through the whole thing. But New York City is one of the, I would say, best representation of how the world is”, he said.
Thierry Henry became one of the world’s best players while he represented Arsenal in the Premier League. He went on to play for Barcelona before moving to the MLS in 2010 to join the New York Red Bulls, where he played until his retirement in 2014.
Thierry Henry scored 52 goals in 135 appearances for the Red Bulls in his time in New York. He retired and began working as a pundit before switching to coaching and returning to punditry.
Arsenal unveil new midfield addition
Arsenal have unveiled Brazil international Bruno Guimaraes as the latest addition to their squad after his transfer from Newcastle United. The 28-year-old midfielder was the subject of a lengthy transfer saga, but has ended up at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners paid £75 million for the Brazilian, who provided four assists at the FIFA World Cup this summer. He handed in a transfer request at St. James’ Park, where he was captain of the club and had played 195 times since joining them.
Bruno Guimaraes has joined Arsenal on a four-year deal until 2030, with an option to extend his contract by one more year. He has taken the number 39 shirt, the same one that he used while at Newcastle.
