Rookie quarterback Carson Beck started for the Arizona Cardinals during Thursday’s Hall of Fame game against the Carolina Panthers. The former Miami Hurricanes star impressed with his performance ahead of his official NFL debut this season.
On social media, retired Super Bowl XLIV champion Chase Daniel shared his thoughts on Beck’s performance. He shared a video of the quarterback attempting a pass from 3rd-and-seven. His long pass connected with wide receiver Jalen Brooks on the 41-yard line.

Beck finished the game completing 15 of 19 passes attempted for 188 yards and one touchdown, along with a sack. Ex-BYU quarterback Kedon Slovis replaced him for the remainder of the game.
In another clip, Chase Daniel took a moment to shut down criticism that Beck was playing against the backup quarterback in the Hall of Fame.
“Stop with the ‘it’s only against backups,’ takes,” Daniel wrote in the caption of the video. “You know, what I care about? Processing, ball placement, anticipation, footwork & poise. Beck is checking a lot of those boxes tonight.”
The Cardinals drafted Beck with the No. 65 pick this year. Despite starting in the Hall of Fame game, he remains the third-string option on the depth chart. Jacoby Brissett is slated as the QB1 while Gardner Minshew serves as the backup.

NFL shares his thoughts on Carson Beck’s future with the Arizona Cardinals
Carson Beck’s performance on Thursday impressed a lot of people. Analyst Michael F. Florio took to social media to share his thoughts on the quarterback.
According to him, the quarterback looked good on the field. However, he believes that Coach Mike LaFleur and his team should stick with Jacoby Brissett through the season.
“Sure it’s the HOF game but Carson Beck has looked good,” Florio tweeted. “Not to be that guy– but I don’t think that’s good if you’re invested in the Cardinals pass catchers. You want Brissett for as long as possible. A QB change would hurt, especially late in the season.”
Jacoby Brissett agreed to a two-year, $12.5 million deal with the Cardinals in March 2025. He took over as QB1 after Kyler Murray’s injury and posted 3,366 yards and 23 TDs passing in 14 games.
The Cardinals kick off the 2026 season with a road game against the Chargers on Sept. 13.
