The Trailseeker is already outselling the Solterra and Subaru’s other electric vehicles just months after its launch.

The Trailseeker takes over as Subaru’s best-selling EV

Since it went on sale earlier this year, the Trailseeker (see our review of it) has quickly become Subaru’s most popular electric vehicle.

Over the past two months, the Trailseeker has now outsold Subaru’s first electric SUV, the Solterra, and the Uncharted.

In July, Subaru sold 1,077 Trailseekers in the US, considerably more than the Solterra (138) and Uncharted (359). Through July, the Solterra remains Subaru’s top seller with 5,275 units sold, followed by the Trailseeker (3,513) and the Uncharted (2,850).

Why is it attracting more buyers? Well, for one, it’s bigger and more powerful. The Trailseeker is closer in size to the Outback. It’s over 6″ longer than the Solterra and nearly 1″ taller, which opens up to 97.5 cubic feet of passenger volume.

The Trailseeker is a “go-anywhere, rugged SUV” with Subaru’s Symmetrical all-wheel-drive (AWD) system and 8.3″ of ground clearance.

The dual-motor AWD powertrain delivers a combined 375 horsepower, enabling it to hit 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, making it the quickest production vehicle Subaru has ever sold in the US.

Inside, the Trailseeker adopts Subaru’s new interior design. The setup includes a 14″ center infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7″ driver cluster, and a 6-speaker sound system as standard.

Powered by a 74.7 kWh battery, the Trailseeker has an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 281 miles on a single charge.

The electric SUV comes with a native NACS port, enabling drivers to access Tesla Superchargers without an adapter.

With DC fast charging of up to 150 kW, the 2027 Subaru Trailseeker can recharge from 10% to 80% in as little as 28 minutes.

The base Premium trim, starting at $39,995, is equipped with Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist technology, heated front seats, a power rear gate, ladder-style roof rails, dual wireless phone chargers, and 18″ aluminum-alloy wheels.

Upgrading to the Limited trim, starting at $43,995, gains a premium Harmon Kardon speaker system, panoramic view monitor, 20″ aluminum-alloy wheels, heated rear seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 120-volt AC power outlet in the back.

The range-topping Touring trim costs $46,555 and adds premium features, including a gloss-black hood accent, a panoramic glass roof with a motorized shade, and ventilated front seats and radiant leg warmers.

The Tesla Model Y RWD is about the same price, starting at $39,990. However, upgrading to AWD adds $2,000, bringing the total to $41,990. The Tesla Model Y AWD offers an EPA-estimated driving range of 294 miles.
