Nothing CMF is launching its first open earbuds

Open earbuds are having a bit of a moment right now, and Nothing is the latest company jumping on the trend. Its budget sub-brand has introduced the CMF Clip Pro, CMF’s first open earbuds that are designed to provide comfort and sound quality for people who don’t want to sacrifice their situational awareness.

The $99 CMF Clip Pro is available starting today in the US, and comes in three color variations: white, black, and orange (which are described as light gray, dark gray, and coral, respectively). That’s the same price as Nothing’s Ear 3A and original Ear (a) buds, so you’re not paying an additional premium for an intriguing design here. The Clip Pro also includes a color-coordinated charging case with a built-in “Smart Dial” that can be used to adjust volume, manage playback, answer calls, and pair devices without needing you to unlock your phone.

The earbuds themselves weigh 6.5 grams each, and are designed to flex to fit any ear shape, so that they remain comfortable “even after hours of continuous wear.” For battery life, Nothing says you can expect up to 10 hours of continuous playback, and almost 33 hours of total playback when combined with the charging case. The earbuds also carry an IP54 rating, which means they’re protected from dust and light splashes — ideal for if you get caught in the rain, but try not to drop them in any puddles.

The CMF Clip Pro includes a 10.8mm audio driver, and supports LDAC, AAC and SBC codecs for improved wireless streaming quality. Nothing says it’s also developed something called “Ultra Bass Technology” which helps to balance frequencies and distortion, compensating for the natural bass loss that comes with open-ear products. There are four microphones built into the buds for calls, which are designed to separate your voice from surrounding environmental noises to keep your conversations sounding clear.

Additional features include support for Bluetooth 5.4 and multipoint connections so you can easily switch your earbuds between two devices, alongside Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair. There’s also a Low Latency Mode for gaming and other customizations available through the Nothing X app.
